dapotemi: The police wants to open office on your colleague, they shouldn't have arrested him and the new owner. They should take their statement and arrest only the dealer until the dealer produce the original seller or whoever claimed they shipped it to Nigeria. Your colleague no get big man for him family? similar case happened to my colleague during the days of Sars. Long story short He took them to the dealer and they arrested the dealer, got his statement and asked him to be ready to be a witness in court. Nabbed after 5yrs Nigerian Police dey work or na d ona ghost no gree rest 5 Likes |

BAZ001: Police will not just release suspect in this type of matter except they compromise investigation. This is a case of armed robbery and murder. In the face of the law, the Police will assume they are cospirstors, reason proper investigation need to be done to ascertain they are innocent. for example the value of Corolla is about 4million in the market and you went to the dealer and pay 2million or 1.5million the Police will have reasonable suspicion to believe you intentionally bought a stolen vehicle. Alot of has to be done during investigation to unravel the truth. 3 Likes |

BAZ001: I believe since they have the dealer that sold the car to his friend, probably they moved his friend to PH for investigation and statement since the police station in charge of the case is located in PH. They need documentation of his statement in that particular station, I'm sure he will be released in no time, but they have to hold him since he's connected to the theft and once they take his statement and see no trace of being involved in the theft, he will be released but will they book his flight back to Lagos |

jpworld: What I don't understand is, I'm sure there is a central motor registry. Licensing office too. The vin and chassis numbers are still intact. So how were they able to bypass the vehicle registration.. If it was a serious case then, I'm sure the chassis n reg no. would have been filed with the police. Most dealers can easily fall victim of this. Because most of them just look for cuts on car deals nowadays.. not knowing the car might have issues. 1 Like |

Omoapena: This case reminds me of my first car in Lagos. Bought the car from a supposed dealer, 250k then, Infinity G20. I never knew that he was just a mechanic given car to repair. Few months later, I drove the car to somewhere In Agege to purchase an item. Next I saw was a man approach me claiming the car was his. He later narrated how he was in some trouble when the car broke down. His mechanic advised him to sell it off. They never reached any agreement when the mecho decided to sell it. I ended up buying it from the mecho using expired vehicles left in the car by the owner. The real owner said he d been having back and forth with the mechanic since. Long story short, he suggested we syndicate the case at a nearby Police station. That's how police turned the case against me, claiming I bought a stolen car. I was detained and only released later in the day after we d been able to ascertain what was going on. The following day, all of us went to Iyana Ipaja to pick up the mecahic. The moment he sighted us, he bolted. Luckily for me, his friend that received the money from me was nearby. I held on to him. He was dragged back to the station. And that was how we managed to get the attention of the mechanic who came later. He signed undertaking to balance the car owner. So, that's how I was exonerated. But for police to release my car was another story until I involved a retired General! Buying a Naija used car requires enough due diligence. 4 Likes |

Always call the number on the Proof of ownership to confirm the car is for sale. Always check if the vehicle was registered with the correct VIN. Always cross check with stolen vehicle database if there is any incumbrance on the vehicle you are purchasing. Vehicle Licence is on State level, so if they sell an already registered car as toks, the only way u will know its already registered is if u try to register it in the same State as the initial registration. Engraving devalues ur cars second hand value but it will make it unattractive to thieves and robbers. 1 Like |

Bolt just dey wake up to reality. After so many months of Bolt blocking my account. I find it very stressful and difficult working on Bolt now. How do dey expect me to be accepting trips to Random places just because of Acceptance rate. 2024 is different from those days when drivers go dey do anywhere belle face. The Ehailing industry is changing very fast. Indriver is changing mode of operation for drivers flexibility and freedom to choose where they go to. Uber has followed the same way. I am glad Bolt is introducing this, it's a welcome development, Nowadays I hardly put on my Bolt app, because I don't want to be Blocked for not accepting the trips to Bad places that will damage my Car. Even Molue, Danfo, Okada, Yellow Cabs, Korope all have their preferred route to ply everyday. Talk Less of we wey dey use clean private car on Bolt platform. I can't be doing all expenses of paying 25% commission, repairing and maintain my car. And still be forced to take trips to Bad roads in this Useless economy that auto parts are very expensive. Impossible !!! For Bolt to really stay on top. Acceptance rate and drivers score most be cancelled. Bring back rating system and create option to accept or skip trips without any effect. Reduce commission from 25% to 10% or 15%. The rate at which this Indriver people are moving, very soon Bolt might go into oblivion. 10 Likes 1 Share

Bolt waking up from slumber. Indrive has taken up most of their drivers. As Gen.zodd mentioned, ehailing has evolved. The days of acceptance rate n driver rate n destination bla bla are gone. .. Every driver is first concerned about his vehicle before any app out there. Hardex that I bought a keg 15k in 2022. is selling for 30k presently. Parts are out of the roof 3 Likes 1 Share |

The competition really hit Bolt. . Riders will be ordering, and drivers will be 15 -20 mins away, something unheard of on Bolt. Riders will order in some areas and Bolt will be busy. ... Indrive mopped up every available tool ( drivers and their cars) and engaged them. I learnt from this episode. No one is really indispensable.. 6 Likes |

But on the flip side, it's a good move from Bolt, more drivers will port back ... a lot of drivers don't mind paying 25% .. provided they are guaranteed a stream of back to back trips which is a trademark of Bolt . 3 Likes |
