Nigeria Army Has Lost A Hero, My Father Is Gone. / The Senate Without Dora Akunyili / Saharareporters: Dora Akunyili's Resignation Letter (2) (3) (4)

For now all Nigerians are Ekiti-ites

I can now confirm that Dora Akunyili has officially lost it

I was hoping she will be smart enough to dodge being at the vanguard of this drama.

But what ever innocence she had is totally destroyed today the 28th of April 2009 while attacking Mrs Adebayo.

Regardless of what the papers want to report we all know the truth. . . . . if anything happens to this woman whether it is an attack or she dies of hypertension the PDP Govt including Dora and Okiro and Yar'adua should be held responsible.

And Nigerian youths must revenge it by calling for the assasination of all those involved whether they are in office or out of office.

I have a Mother and I know how broken hearted I will feel seeing her intimidated because she told the truth.

A word is enough for the wise

No need for assassination yet.
Re: Dora Is Gone! by Nobody: 2:54am On Apr 29, 2009
She had done it before, obeying ‘orders from above’ to upturn popular mandates. That was what ‘mama’, as she was popularly called by staffers at the INEC, did two years ago, during the April 14, 2007 gubernatorial election in Ekiti, when she was ordered by the then ‘Do-or-die’ President Obasanjo to ratify the criminal electoral heist by Segun Oni before the Appeal Court upturned and nullify the electoral robbery.

This time around however her conscience disobeyed the rigging instructions from above, even if that instruction had come from the Vice President of Nigeria. Conscience is an open wound, only truth can heal it, so said Uthman Dan Fodio.

In her twilight, ‘Mama’ became an heroine of the masses as people all over Nigeria who hear the tales of her courage at this second chance to redeem her reputation. They call her ‘Obinrin Rere’ meaning good woman. She has become a folk heroine among women of Ekiti as they carried placards chanting war songs.

Two things happened that would forever shatter the invincibility of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the rerun elections of last Saturday in Ekiti. Those two things also encouraged Mrs. Adebayo to side with the masses and disobey criminal instructions ‘from above’ to announce padded results.

The first drama occurred at Oye Ekiti when there was no sign of ballot or INEC officials around as at 10:50 A.M. Information filtered to the vigilante youths that Senator Ayo Arise with the aid of about 36 thugs in his house at Oye have started massive thumb-printing of ballot papers. The irate voters mobilised themselves there, and there would have been a bloodbath in the ensuing melee that would have happened, but for the timely intervention of DIG (OPS) Mr. John Ahmadu and his team, who promptly rescued Arise from the ‘RIG and ROAST’ action of the angry mob.

He was ‘arrested’ along with his 36 ‘bodyguards’, and later ‘transfered’ to Abuja, to cool off, away from tension-soaked Oye. Nothing has been said about the electoral materials, ballot boxes and ballot papers caught with him. The reason is obvious, electoral crimes are punished by cancellation of election and results from the constituency of the crime. PDP could not afford to waste 18,000 fake votes that could tip the balance in Oni’s favour. Reason why Iwu still talks longingly about indispensability of the ‘postponed’ Oye elections. The public expected him to be talking of cancelled Oye elections, since Arise was caught with his thugs in the act there.

The second drama was at Ido/Osi where Segun Oni hails from. All his aides and thugs were specially kitted with police escorts and they effectively cordoned off Ifaki. They harassed, macheted, and beat black-and-blue many independent election observers and monitors (Dr. Abubakar Momoh et al). They discouraged and sent home many voters from the empty polling stations.

When in the evening they stormed the local INEC Collation centre, escorted by Oyinlola’s fake-uniformed ‘policemen’ carrying ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bags stuffed to the brim with ballot papers already thumb-printed by the thugs in favour of Oni. The opposition party agents and the patriotic policemen attached to that center resisted them successfully, until they began to shoot to maim, at that point, unarmed officials ducked for cover or took flight. That was when Oni’s thugs angrily set the place ablaze, to destroy the remaining evidence of collated results that revealed their loss at home to AC candidate. (AC was leading in three wards of Ayetoro 1 and 2 and Ido, by 1071 to PDP’s 939, before the arrival of the thugs).

These hand-writings of colossal defeat on the wall for PDP in the face of courageous mass resistance was what led Mama to change allegiance and sided with the masses.

Now Iwu and PDP are seething with rage for the ‘betrayal’ by Mama, hence the forcible recall of Mama by the SSS to Abuja this morning to give account of her version of the electoral perversion in Ekiti. No sooner had she left the SSS office than the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mike Okiro declared her wanted. Is this a vendetta against a formerly loyal accomplice? The world is waiting and watching how PDP-INEC would conjure an electoral abracadabra in Ekiti.

Meanwhile, the streets of many towns in Ekiti burst into protests again this afternoon as the women and youths took over, chanting war songs and demanding release of authentic results that gave their true mandate to Fayemi as their governor-elect. No retreat No Surrender is the cry of the protesting youths.
Re: Dora Is Gone! by Nobody: 2:56am On Apr 29, 2009
Those who will purnish this woman for whatever past sins should remember that we vote for Governors and Presidents the same day.

So if they implicate her for her past acts then it nullifies the President's mandate . . . . . and the Supreme court decision will have to be re-visited.

So everybody including the President can go down.

Better respect the will of Ekiti people right now and lets move on from there.

@mikeansy thanks a lot for you informative and enlightening second post. You and @blacksta have kept a lot of people online informed about different incidents that occured during the Ekiti elections. I agree with the idea that all Nigerians at this point should consider themselves from Ekiti state, because fighting against the behemoth that has become PDP and successfully winning a battle for the people and the majority will indeed set a very good precedence. The implications of successfully proving that past elections under thesame lady (who seems to have had a crisis of conscience this time around) were questionable are huge. If only the ammount of reported incidences during the past elections were well documented they way they were for Ekiti. The actions of the people even in the face of violent thugs and the peoples demand for justice and respect of their votes is quite encouraging, I must say I am more confident than I was that days of abracadabra elections in Nigeria are numbered. For people who shout change change without wanting to back such up with actions, the people (no matter how isolated such inceidences might have been) who fought to defend their votes in the face of violent thugs are indeed encouraging are commendable. This is backing up rhetoric with actions.

Dora is already a goner and irretrievably so. You need to watch her ranting on TV last night and you would be convinced beyond any doubt that she's gone. No one dines with PDP and remain clean again, I haven't seen one.

What a pity!!!

Looks like Dora is going down down down!!

How can you sacrifice the good name you've built over the last ten years for just one stupid and obviously self destruct announcement!!
She could have found a way to avoid that announcement. Someone else could have done it.Maybe Segun Adeniyi!

I believe she would be the next to resign!

Re: Dora Is Gone! by maddock(m): 1:07pm On Apr 29, 2009
Typical of Nigerians, too short "memoried" (can some help me with the correct english word  grin). Just yestaday we were hailing her as the messiah that sanitised the health sector,if you ask me i would say YES SHE DID. But today we are castigating her just because of a few slips, so soon we have forgotten about her exploit at NAFDAC even at the expense of threats to both her life and that of her family, someone here even suggested ASSASINATION in this foru, can you imagine that?. The big question here is our politicians worth this level of adrenaline we allowing into our system? Segun Oni or Fayemi, do they have good intentions? have we not been reading about killing and maiming on both sides. So comon guys we should not allow them politicians to always take us for a ride.
Dora is very old, sensible and intelligent to know whats good for her, without any body in this forum acting as an unpaid legal adviser. I feel she must have weight the pros and cons of her actions, before taking them, so please LETS CUT HER SOME SLACKS,OK.

I dont like the fact that she took her present post but There is absolutely nothing wrong in what she said, She Risked her life in fighting fake drug dealers whilst @ Nafdac, so for a fellow woman, I mean even Older woman of 74yrs to come out and say that she is unable to perform a function she was empowered to do, becos she is afraid, and wants to be crowned a heroine is totally wrong,

Dora Akunyili's achievements in NAFDAC will always be there for all to see no matter what other ventures she goes into and yes threats were made on her life and she still did the job, etc, however I think comparing Dora Akunyili and the REC official who handed in a resignation later does not make sense.

First of all, what is the job of the REC official? Does it include protecting ballot boxes from being snatched and fighting off violent, armed, hired political thugs? I really doubt if such is in the job description of an electoral commissioner, however as you postulated one of the duties of and REC is to announce electoral results, if this is what this woman is being castigated and called cowardly for not doing then I really don't get it. Do we just want hired zombies as public officials or don't we value the ability to analyse a situation and take required action anymore? Would it be better if she announced results which came from an obviously fraudlent election? You have reports of uprisings, people being arrested for massive thumb printing of ballots in residences, people dressed in police uniforms also partaking in electoral malpractices, and you feel the results should be announced? This is not necessarily about making this woman a hero but I think what she did was in order especially since it was done before announcing results, don't we want more public officials with a "concience"? How can you claim she is cowardly? Because you haven't heard from her in probably less than 24hours after her resignation even with all the reported threats on her person? Please let us try to be objective before jumping on the bandwagon.

a few things about Dora most nigerians dont know, the staff at nafdac use to regard her as just someone who holds press confrences after they have done the job (more like she taking credit for a job done by them),to them she was just their mouth piece who take all the glory, she is a full member of the p.d.p and is well known to have taken bribes!

Thats is the basis of my argument that Dora has earned the right to disagree that a fellow woman of older age can use the above as an excuse.

I had initially commended her stance- But her duty is to annouce the correct results for those place where the election took place without malpractices--cancel the results for those places where the result she has reason to be fake and state the reasons with evidence which according to you are widely available---This action will send the right message to the do -or die riggers and she then should go the whole hog by stating those who were compelling her to announce fake result and tell us which fake result she is being compelled to announce, How can you claim she is cowardly? Because you haven't heard from her in probably less than 24hours after her resignation even with all the reported threats on her person? Please let us try to be objective before jumping on the bandwagon.

It is 4days since the election took place, thats more than enough time, she and the political elite are not loosing nothing, spare a thought for the common ekiti citizen who cant go about their daily business cos of the uncertainty in the air.

i wonder how some people can say dora is going down. . . . are nigerians this blind? some have said dora has gone down already . . .haaaaaa . . . .

dora did not go down today. she lost her respect far far far back. when she looked at what nigeria called election in 2007 and said . . ''who said there is no God'' . . . . . insinuating that the sham they called election which produced the current PDP leadership is from God, that was when i knew she was gone. so i'm not surprised at all. forget her.

Please lets not be myopic in our summations, where was the so called NAFDAC officials all those years our pharmaceutical companies were dying one by after the other.I work in this sector and i can say it loudly for all to hear if not for Dora our health pharma sector would still be in the doldrums. Today you see Pharma companies and businesses thriving well, good pay and conditions of service. That was not the case with my Uncle who was a pharmacist 10 years ago. So dont give me this story about Dora holding press conferences after whoever has done the job, which job did they do? why have they not done it before Dora stepped in?
Go to all these small countries in West Africa, pharma products from Nigeria are most hated and distrusted but all these are now changing. So we learn to give honour to whom honour is due.

Re: Dora Is Gone! by redsun(m): 3:35pm On Apr 29, 2009
Not even Wale Soyinka can make a difference in an illegitimate and failed system. The president himself is illegitimate, therefore his appointees are automatically illegitimate, including dora or whatever her name is.

The whole concept is wrong, until nigerians realize that democracy is the will, wish and power of the people, nothing will work.Democracy is design to put the people in the government.Government of people,by the people and for the people, but in nigeria's case, reverse is the case,it belongs to obasanjo and co.(obasancracy)

Even america could not escape the wraths of illegitimate system, with george bush and co who were undemocratically selected bringing the world to her knees in a short period.
