Opening an e-Gold account is simple. All you need to do is click on this link https://www.e-gold.com/newacct/newaccount.asp?cid=2687091 , agree to the terms and conditions and then fill out the form. Once you have filled out the form an submitted it, the e-Gold system will allocate an account number and send it to you via e-mail.

Make sure when you enter your personal details you enter accurate information, in particular the e-mail address and phone number(Landline), ensure you write down where only your eyes can reach it. If you ever have a problem with the account like a mistaken password, e-Gold will call the number on your account,if they cant reach you through phone then they will send you a mail asking you to confirm the contact address you used to open the account,when this is done, they will verify and mail your password via airmail(post). If the details are wrong and they can't contact you, you could lose all the money in your account.

In this topic, i want all e-gold users to please be attentive to every instruction here, so as to guide against theft of anyones e=gold. Two years ago i was a victim of e-gold theft by hackers cos i was ignorant of the e-gold security features but now i am a lot wiser and as an e-gold exchanger we are prone to hackers who know we have a lot of e-gold in our accounts which we use to service our clients,so the measure i will be sharing now is a sure protection from hackers and keyloggers.

1.To tighten up your access point ,login to your account and update ,click on ACCOUNT INFO, then click on PASSPHRASE.To fill in new passphrase with the SRK system for maximum security,all you have to do is to click on SRK and screen keyboard will display,then use you mouse to click on your password one bye one.If your password has some other characters click on any of them to display characters there so as to display anyone you intend using eg:if u want to click numbers ,just click on the 123 button to display numerical figures,for alphabeths small or big letters, click on the required buttons to dispaly then click with your mouse
when you are done with that close the SRK screen keyboard,then type in the[b] turing numbers[/b] with your keyboard and submit.
Note:The reason for using the SRK system is to thwart keyloggers who plant virus to steal password on keyboards.(some may not understand but just do it)

2.To tighten up your access point again,click on ACCSENT.This is what you should do on the account sentinel setting.There are 3 options there:Detect IP Address Change Sensitivity,Detect Browser Change,Home and Work Mode.On the 1st part there are 3 option namely Disabled,Medium and High, click on high,then on the 2nd part,there are 2 options namely, disabled and enabled, click on enabled,the 3rd part has 2 options namely ,disabled and enabled ,click on disabled. Read thru the other options to see if you need to tighten them up too,but i dont think others are too important except you want to tighten them.Finally type in the turing numbers and clik on submit.

When all this is achieved ,be rest assured that your e-gold account is now secure.

E-gold safety tips
NEVER, under any circumstances do any of the following:
-share your E-gold password with anyone.
-click on a link found in an email from what appears to be e-gold company. Fraudulent individuals send out spam emails that look like they are from a e-gold company. Such emails are designed to steal your password and the funds in your account. Their intent is to try to get you to click on the link found in the email and then enter your password. The link takes you to a webpage that is set up to look like the real e-gold company, but is somewhere overseas. Such emails may appear to be from a legitimate company such as e-gold, but in reality is some fly-by-night overseas site. Often these emails will say that the company has "some kind of problem with your account and you need to log-in to your account to correct it". If really feel you must log-in to your account, go directly to the company's web site using your browser. (I strongly suggest you never click on a link in an email and then sign-in.)
Avoid the above problems by making it a habit of going directly to the company's website whenever you want to log-in.
Scam and fraud artists are using "Fake" emails to steal your passwords. The emails appear to be from famous stock brokers and banks, as well as big internet companies like eBay, PayPal or, egold etc. This act is what is called PHISING(pronounced' fishing').
