The fire flaring up to frighten me more
This reminded me of hell
Where I was sure I was going
For killing my sister and trying to commit suicide
What will God do to me, I wondered.
Smack me and ground me like my parents would have done?
That would only be if He would agree to see me.
That reminded me

What would my parents be doing?
At this moment am being held hostage
By some smelly creatures
Probably been hungry for three days
They would have reported to the cops
To be on the look out for my sister and I
Missing children would be the headline of the news
What irony, I thought

I dozed off
I saw my sister all dressed in white
Beckoning me to come
I couldn’t get to her as much as I tried
Till the breeze wheezed her off and I was left standing
Then she came again
This time with a whip looking angry indeed
As she moved towards me owning a wicked smirk
I shouted as she reached for me

Which must have stirred my captors too
Because they all stared and groaned at me
Then I think they remembered
I was suppose to be their meal
Because they all sprang up
Then one moved towards me
Taking the knife I had earlier chosen
As the others watched losing patience

Then the knife began to descend with the raised hand
As I watched, my eyes popping out off their socket
Sweating my gland out
Agrhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…grh…grh

Just then I opened my eyes and heard the tapping of rain
Probably the water above
As I awaited the blood to gush out of my throat
Then I felt a soft spot under me, which made me turn
I felt a skin beside me
I jumped up thinking it was the monster
Oh no! It couldn’t be……… a ghost?
Alas! it was the body of my sister
Breathing in fact!
Then it struck me she was alive.
I looked up and saw the familiar ceilings
Breathing in the familiar scent.
Then it dawned on me.

I have been dreaming!!!
Oh what a dream!
I felt my throat for the feel of blood to reassure myself
Not there after all
Wow! That was a narrow escape, I thought
As I went back to sleep wrapping my sister around me
It’s going to be a long night, I thought
Only to hear my mum’s voice calling
“Arvee, it’s time to wake up”,
OH NO, NOT THAT!
