Is It Worth It? by Alexshey(m): 11:37am On Oct 27, 2015
i don't know where to post this but i guess here is cool. Pls i need your advice on this.
I am a civil servant here in Oyo state and my salary is #20,000 per month, i have a wife and a child and am d one taking care of my mom too because she was rob early this year and am the one to look after her, so recently i was told i would be transfer to Ibadan but when i calculate the cost of living per month there won't be nothing left, mind you i don't have any relative in ibadan so i will have to rent a house close to secretariat and that will cost me upto #80,000 to 100,000, and i just got admitted to do my degree, the school fee is #140,000 with acceptance fee and i was thinking how would i be coping with it because the transport to school every week will be costing upto 3000 to 4000, and my wife is an apprentice and she was suppose to start her degree next but there is no another source of income, please i need your advice should i leave the job and start hustling or i should be managing till i get another one. Thanks in advance for your advice and pls don't mind my english.

Your salary=20,000
You have a family to cater for=?
Education to finance=140,000
Yourself to cater for and savings to make.....0

You want to hustle, what kind do you think will give you instant and enough cash support?...
Times are hard...

Reject the transfer and postpone the degree,
Manage what you have and give your child a start in education..
While on this job you can be on the outlook for another that has a better pay or that you can combine with this.....

Less I forget,activate your handwork...

Sorry before I go,fire your wife with caution, pregnancy this days no send o lipsrsealed

What is "does it worth it"? That's bad English and unfortunately more people are using it.

This is a tough one, if you were not married it would have been easier. I'll advice you get start a business that can sustain your family even if it is trading. As it is you cannot cater for the 3 of you with your 20k salary. Do not be offended but you are not ready for marriage in the current environment you find yourself except if you want your child to be illiterate.
Are you renting now? If you are not and the transfer is compulsory, please go alone and then bring your family later when you are stable otherwise na hunger you dey.

Please, don't leave your job yet since you have no assured alternative means of income... You can stay in your job while working out other alternatives...if any of the hustles clicks or starts bringing sustainable income, you can then leave.....

Your wife and kid can remain in your village while you get someone to squat with in Ibadan(just find a way to manage). You can go visit them every weekend. ..with time when things get better, you can be together again..
Or if there's any work your wife can do in your new location to generate substantial revenue, she can come along....

All d best...

Op, I'm almost forced 2 say y did u get married, u're just 24 what's d rush 4 crying out loud. Nywys, I think what u can do is 2 defer ur admission, dis will give u time 2 get settled.

@OP, don't leave the job, continue working. Find a colleague you can squat with for a while, let your wife take care of your mum in your absence.
