Transcorp could be a great stock in 5 yrs but even the prospectus showed that they intend to make a loss in the first yr of operation. why not invest in another stock and buy back transcorp when the they start to turn the company around? Do you invest out of pride or to maximize returns? transcorp won't help you maximize returns.

My broker has said he can get it for below N9. So I'll be looking for a significant discount, somewhere below the IPO price,

Given the general perception of "distress" in this company and non viability, I expect and hope to buy a bargain!

I think it is better we separate facts from fiction and get well tutored in Stocks trading and investing! A seminar is coming up which in my honest opinion is a good deal. Experts from the industry and academia are coming together to slice and dice issues on the capital markets. For newbies, this is one good opportunity.

i saw one seriks comment saying daewoo collapsed. I guess he only knows the company by car name. He didnt know that like hyundai they have other heavy industries in oil and gas, services, manufacuturing, etc. In fact, the largest shipbuilding yard is in south korea and owned by daewoo engineering coy.

Also said shell didnt do anything but was allowed nigerian stock exchange listing. I guess u didnt know d criteria for getting listed is not by perceived or adjudged business philantropy. Being listed also doesnt connote sharing of govt or public fund on the floor of d exchange.

Anyway, if transcorp participation will drive prices of competitors down locally, then good for us the consumers. But if they add no value to common man, then i see them like glo, mtn, etc, which ask us to text or call our monies in every promo, so they use millions out of it to pay few winners, and not from their already made billions of profits.

Recently, Transcorp and Engie entered into a strategic alliance for the development of solar mini grids in Nigeria. Currently, 45% of the Nigerian population have limited or no access to the national grid. The mini grids on the other hand, with a capacity of 3,000MW and annual revenue opportunity of about US$3Billion, have a huge potential to provide electricity for about 14% of the population.

In light of this new strategic alliance, both companies executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the joint development of mini grids in Nigeria. Present at the signing were Transcorp’s Executive Director, Legal and Business Development, Chris Ezeafulukwe and Legal Manager, Humphrey Onyeukwu.

Transcorp is a good thing for Nigeria.
The calibre of people working as transcorp directors is world class.
Transcorp is already raising money by public placement and will go to the stock exchange by next year.
Transcorp has already bought Nicon Noga hotel thru a holding company. They also plan to buy Portharcourt Refinery and Eleme Petrochemicals.
Transcorp will focus on key areas of the economy like oil & gas, agriculture, tourism, IT , steel, power .technology.
Infact I hope to buy some part of the company thru the stock exchange.

Pls learn to read newspapers so that you can find out the good things about Nigeria.
Nigeria is for sure marching forward !!!!

Just saw this thread now. I do hope you went with your plan. You are wise.
