I want to enroll my brother in AFRIHUB(an ICT institute) with the following courses available: (1)National diploma in software engineering and computing (2)National diploma in Network and security system. (3)National diploma in Multimedia and business. And (4)National diploma Telecommunication and business information technology.

My question is: which of the above cause will I advice him to go for? considering the following:
(1)He is not a science student and is very poor in mathematics,
(2)The unemployment in nigeria, which of the above can he easily get job or become self reliance after graduation.
(3) The guy is a poly drup out in business admin&management, because there was no money to continue.

Pls ur advice is needed very urgent as the admission is in progress now

pls passion in not the issue here.

I think d first two makes lot of a sense considering the stipulated factors

He should go for software Engineering

Reasons: dias no Calculations, Though it depends on how far he wish to learn. Mind you, doz are I.T courses and its rare not to encounter Calculations as he proceed. Not to worry, d Calculations are not tough like wat u think.

If you think he's good in skills den advice him to go for multi media and business... He will come out blazing like fire.

But I don't really trust dt afrihub in terms of practical proficiency. Just pray they don't teach him theories.

My take.

He should go for multimedia......

Reasons

1) The world is going more into entertainment now. In fact, apart from entertainment, companies need multimedia professionals to shoot their product advert commercials for them for TV promo.

The likes of MTN, Indomie, HoneyWell Flour etc employ the service of a mulitmedia practioner for this purpose.

2) He can easily be self employed in this course unlike other course you stated above.

3) Multimedia is pregnant with a lot of sub profession, as a multimedia specialist, automatically he will be a photographer, video director, video producer, visual effect artist, 3d Animator etc. Though he will specialise in one, he will still have knowledge of the others, and no knowledge is a waste.

My ADVICE

To go into multimedia practically, I don't know much about the institution you just mentioned, but I can assure you that to learn MECHANICAL ENGINEERING in a university is different from learning it from SURAJU on the street.

You know what I mean? Theory is different from practical.

So I advice you to let him go for his training to learn from those who are already in the multimedia business as a means of living.
The likes of Clarence Peters, Unlimited L.A, MEX Films, Mat Max are people he can learn from.

Just my humble advice.Thanks

Dear dats d problem, there are lots of them registered under nbte but d problem remains Dat d 9jrian factor is not encouraging while searching for a good I.T firm Dat will optimally deliver d required practical skills dt u crave for ur ward. Am not saying Dat u can't gt any good practically based school, only trying to say that they are rare, as a result got to be careful.

My story...
2yrs ago while serving at Enugu, I decided to enrol into a practically based diploma programme in computer graphics and printing Technology just 2 augment my degree and to boost my chances in the labour market. I searched, investigated and thoroughly examined some I.T consultancy firms. I later resolved to run d prog at rocana Institute of Technology. Was charged a whooping sum of 80k even as a corps member. I paid the fee cos I know wat I was hoping to gain in the long run. To cut the story short.
D school is actually good cos they have adequate machines and a good numb of staff but they are more focused on their company interest than the students.
They lacked adequate time table, their teachers were showing a look worm attitude towards me, infact there was no plans to deliver d required skills dt I demanded. I complained until my service year ran out.

I wouldn't like Any1 2 mk such mistake of paying hugely without getting d skills Dat he demands. So I therefore advice that proper scrutiny should be done before leaving ur ward in there custody.

For now, I don't know of any school for such.

I concur with the poster above me. He really nipped it, especially on the street tutor. I hate theories.
