Hmmm, lets see,

2001/2002 Honda Accord: Beautiful car interior & exterior, especially if you get the EX trim with leather smiley . Generally trouble-free engine maintenance wise except of course, the GEARBOX. It is very well known that the 1998-2003 Honda Accords have gearbox issues especially the V6 engine powered models. So, the I4 (4 cylinder) Accords r still a bit relatively 'safe' from these issues.

Mazda 626 2001/2002 : Too long and bulky for my liking. The car is beautiful in its own way sha, especially if you get those with the factory fitted alloy wheels (not rims with covers pls). But generally, I dont think its as beautiful, in and out as the accord. And also, a mechanic has once told that the engines are quite sensitive & could be very problematic sometimes. However, a friend used the car, (4 cylinder engined model tho) for over 2 years without any serious issues before he sold it to get a 2001 Camry. Then, i haven't really heard or viewed any complaints about the gearbox.

My Verdict: If it were me, I'll go for the Naija used Babyboy BUT it must be after a TRUSTWORTHY mechanic has certified the engine & especially the gearbox as fit for use. Then after my purchase, i'll take special care of the gearbox by using the correct ATF, draining when due, proper & careful driving habits (e.g., shifting the gear to Neutral instead of leaving it on Drive for a long time especially while in traffic e.t.c. ). & there r very rare manual gear 'american specs' out dere. Lucky u if u find any. Tho u'll likely get a manual if u r going for a babyboy that was bought brand new in naija (somethin i'll advise against coz a car wey don use 10 yrs for naija roads, careful abeg).

Goodluck to u on ur decision making & please update the thread after ur purchase.

Cheers.
