bro I serve in cross river and in as much I will not agree with the OP Obubra camp is just an average camp that is just conducive for camping but saying its among the best when we have lagos,abuja,jigawa,ogun,osun,oyo and some I cannot mention is a fallacy....


Note I was camp in Obubra and am conversant with it.

These ones are better,soldiers and man owar stays in one of the poultry . I was there 2013,My own hostel was by the mosque side.. Only meant for guys cause lady no fit stay there.. Poo all over the hostell with no water to even wash .the available water was oily due to the oil producing area the camp is located. Malnourished Eba with , palm oil rice with a burnt taste. With oily watery tea prepared from the water we had no source of. Obubra .. Thank God I relocated back to ISEYIN. But I missed those water boys that used to dance their nyaya style every nite show.

Yeah, those dance-dance boys. I was posted to Obubra from camp, and some of those boys lived in my area.

Cross River NYSC camp isn't that bad. The pictures the OP shared is of the overflow section of the camp. There is only so much it can take. To tell you it isn't bad, the then Niger-Delta militants were rehabilitated in the camp. It isn't paradise, but definitely not as disgusting as you think.

I served in that camp and i can tell you that place nothing hygenic to talk of. Infact that room opposite were the lady in white stands is my hall with some soldiers. We lay foams on the floor.
To make it worst dat camp is far to everywhere, you cant vex to go and stay in an hotel or somthing. Obubra is jxt far from everywhere and d road is terrible. Was even hoping that maybe the place will b better by now ..... 3yrs later all na same.

Bros ye, Obubra isn't far from everywhere. I was there for a whole year, so I know. Agreed that it's three hours from Calabar, but you'd get to Abakaliki from there in a little over an hour.

I was there 2008/2009 Batch A, StreamII...the toilets were so dirty that u'll always see pooo on d floor..I used d bush all through but during lectures.

After all d suffer, na Echumofana den go post me...one good year in d bush without electricity, federal allawee 9K, state allawee 3K which dey didn't pay us completely. They would owe us 5 months and pay 2 after much complain.

Till today there is no electricity in Echumofana...infact they don't have electric wires

I was in this camp 2006 and believe me it is the worst camp I have ever seen. The toilet was in a sorry state, I was always going to a house close to the camp to poo, I can never forget that family. Mr Ben Ayade should please do something about that camp.

I was there in 2012. This is the overflow section, it was not designated as living quarters. The OP should have snapped the hostels and stop misleading people.

I was also in Obubra in 2012. Batch C.
NYSC over there is d true definition of selfless Service.

I clicked to see if Obubra has changed, but I guess not. The makeshift hostel on the left is where I stayed (2012 batch B). The conditions were bad, to say the least. We made our own bathroom and we had a latrine. Having said that, i must add that those 2 hostels are for late comers -- those who cant get into the main hostels because of congestion (both male & female.) We called them 'mami hostels'. The main hostels are the 'normal' Nigerian standard.

It wasn't this bad 2012/2013 na. It was just toilet issue which was caused by us. What happened?

hmmm, the hostel wasn't bad in 2011/2012, but the toilet was mostly messed up with tissues and those dirty peeps who find it difficult to flush.
There was light to an extent and water then.

That's how we roll in obubra, its just for 21days, enjoy it bae...!!!!! Thank God its not dat raining again, wen we were dia, its so messed up dan dat wit rain..... Happy camping.
