VACANCY FOR THE POSITION OF VULNERABLE CHILDREN OFFICER

Job Details:
Under the Sustainable Mechanism for Improving Livelihoods and Household Empowerment (SMILE) Project, JDPC IDAH is currently operating in Ajaka and Odolu communities in Igalamela/Odolu LGA, assisting and improving vulnerable children households and the target communities to enable them meet their basic human rights and needs in line with its vision, mission and core values, and now seeks highly qualified and experienced candidates for the position below:

Job Title: Vulnerable Children Officer
Location: Idah, Kogi State

Job Role:
The VC Officer will provide technical leadership in integrated VC services under the SMILE grant. He/she will have some combination of technical expertise and experience in VC service areas that include; health, nutrition, child protection, psychosocial support, education, food security, child rights and advocacy. The VC Officer will guide the project technically in terms of: VC service provision; capacity development and mentoring of community volunteers and care givers; provision of technical support to LGA social welfare units on a range of VC issues; provide support for documenting best practices and knowledge management in VC.
Job Requirement:
• A minimum of a University Degree or HND in Social Science, Social Work, Community Development, Community Psychology, Social Science or any relevant course in Humanities.
• Minimum of two years experience in OVC programming
• Knowledge of community structures and system
• Community mobilization skills
• Strong Communication Skills
• Extremely strong computer skills
• Strong editing Skill
• Very strong report writing skills
• Fluency in both written and oral English required
• Ability to speak the local language (Igala) will be an added advantage
• Experience of working with vulnerable children such as unaccompanied and separated children and children with special needs
• Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions
• Understanding of international humanitarian standards, codes of conduct and child safeguarding
• Understanding of a comprehensive approach on disability and issues of vulnerability in terms of psychosocial consequences
• Demonstrate good understanding of child protection in emergency
• Experience of working with child protection case management, Best Interest Assessment, Best Interest Determination and child protection information management system

Age Requirement: Above 24 years of age
