Sorry I haven't posted in a while, really have been busy.

In today's lesson, we consider some often mispronounced words in Queens English. The aim here is to sharpen pronunciations, so we sound savvy, and equally articulate.

Hello OP, good job.

It would have been better if you had included where the tonal emphasis should be.

However, i don't agree with "look, cook, hook book".

Something like "cook" has "kʊk" as the oral English translation which is a short vowel sound. How is "ʊ" meant to be pronounced? Don't think it's with an "a" in it.

Well the aim of this thread is to make symbols like "ʊ" easier to pronounce and comprehend, hence why look was transcribed to "loak". Many people pronounce 'look' as 'luke' which is wrong.

How about "luk, cuk, etc". I tried it with the 'a' sound and knew I was doing it wrong.
