I Am Not Coming To Or Visiting Nigeria Until The Atmosphere Is Conducive. by Akpangbon: 11:54am On May 16, 2009
Often, I hear many people abroad, same place we al are, saying, the government should make the atmosphere conducive so they can come home to Nigeria, is this right to say, its like trying to reap where you havent sown - why must you wait till government makes the country conducive for you b4 you decide to step in? What about millions in the system and working hard to make it well, should they all vamose and wait till the country is ok b4 they have anything to do with it?

Is this how to contribute to the development of the country?

Please post with some common sense, and without resentment or bitterness. Is that too much to ask?

Is it too much to ask you to jump in front of a moving train if you resent me? Look at yourself from head to toe and come back here to tell me what you saw.

Why the resentment?

Why the display of bitterness?

Exactly, thats what I was waiting for, an slowpoke, thats exactly what you saw in the mirror when you looked at yourself from head to toe, please why not now complete the task, pack your bag and baggages, walk down the street, go into the nearest train station or tube station and jump into a moving train all because of me, while you do that, i continue to post on NairaLand while your soul burns in hell.

Tombola or whatever you call yourself, you are up here again with yet another post filled with cowardice and hypocrisy.

The first step in finding a solution to a problem is identifying what the causes of the problems are and how it came about. If one gets this first step right, then you have your problem half solved. If this is not contribution to you, then I wonder what you mean by that word.
I must also let you know that most diasporans usually send huge amount of money back to nigeria which in turn helps the economy. These diasporans dont stop at this as they also have helped in building roads, schools, hospitals, boreholes etc for their various communities.

@the millions working hard to redeem the system;

What have the millions in the system contributed if not corruption, cowardice and hypocrisy? (few are exempted)
Which action did they take recently on the alleged electoral fraud in ekiti?
How many of them gathered to protest and question their corrupt government; past and present?
How many of these millions speak out against the massacre of southerners in the north?
How many of them have taken to the street to protest the inefficient power supply?
How many of them protested against the rigged 2007 elections?
How many of them have even questioned their councilors not to talk of governors or presidents? . . . . the list is endless.

Look, am not asking the the government to build me a Dubai before I come back to help, but should simply lay the foundation by providing steady power supply, effective anti-corrption and security institutions, while the millions of people you talked about should wake up and question their leaders anytime they go gaga instead of always defending your cowardice and hypocrisy.

B.T.W, you sounded as if everybody diasporan have been out of nigeria since when they were born, hence have not contributed anything.

The more I read his filth, the more I am inclined to think he is a bitter person.

He's stalked me on YIM and across threads. He even makes threats of immigration at people coming to an event we are trying to organise. I can only think he was here on illegal papers and was promptly removed by the immigration officials. Surely, someone with his kind of mentality will stick out like a sore thumb in the society.

How different are you now from those wrecking the country?

I can see bitterness written all over them. The same people, the same stupid message.

Nuzo, some questions are so daft that they dont require answers - when you put up yours saying you want to give up on Nigeria, noone called it names, but because I have my post up, it is now time for name calling, like i said, you and your likes are ignored.

A thread that bashes Nigeria is a meaningful one while a thread that bashes the bashers of Nigeria is a meaningless one. How people thinks, from their arse holes.

How come you didnt understand a thing in that my post after 7 pages of thorough explanation?
Where in that thread did I state that I was giving up? Did you read my initial opening statement?

In fact, your comment shows what you are; a clear reflection of the state of nigeria. A very confused state.
I hereby move the motion that this thread be deleted with immediate effect for lack of sense in it.

I have been on NL for about two months, followed some of the discussions but it amazes me how dictatorial and inimical most of us here are. It is shocking and absolutely inhuman that we can not even tolerate our mates on the interent, how much more if made a leader, say a Gov or President? It amazes me how most of us detest intellectual crticism which shows we are not yet ripe for a change. Except an average Nigerian learns to accept crticism, we can never move forward.

@poster
Everybody has the right to return to Nigeria whenever he/she wishes depending on the person's life ambition. I have purchased my flight ticket to return to Nigeria in August but that does not mean all is well with Nigeria. So many have tried and died without being recognised for their fight for freedom.

I registered a coy in the UK, with a Nigerian subsidiary, with a friend last year to retun to Nigeria in 2009 but my friend already has a change of mind because his uncle who invested N500million in the Oil and Gas sector, after working in USA for eighteen years running his coy, was assasinated along the third mainland bridge. My friend's refusal to return to Nigeria with me revolves around the uncle's experience, and so every disporan here have their reasons and we must observe and respect their rights.

It has been interesting to note how the poster himself has been treated. The thing about criticism is it can go anyway and to be honest I think the poster's criticisms are valid. Some might see him as rude or even intolerable but I feel he has raised good points, so why doesn't his own criticisms pass off as being "intellectual"? What seemed the reasonable way to deal with the poster's posts was to raise reasonable issues to answer the criticisms he posted, and if people found him intolerable he could have simply been ignored. However this whole idea of labelling any poster who might be perhaps too upfront and rude as i_laugh is hilarious.

I guess people took different things from the post however what I saw was a confrontational post which to be honest should have brought about introspection. How many years have posters on nairaland been "debating" now? What has been the outcome of such? I think it is a question people should ask themselves because if people keep on complaining year after year about a situation and do nothing about it then what on earth is the point? Is it just a past time? Is it not time we work towards change (if we are not already doing so) in order to have the society we want rather than coming online to give more "commentary"? Would such things cause change? So what is so offensive about such posts? You don't have to be in Nigeria to effect change in the country although being in the country in some cases might make such pursuits more efficient. The first post by the poster seemed reasonable to me, I just don't get why he got all the backlash. It is not compulsory to respond to all posts or post on all threads.

@Poster, Learn to Live and Let Live!!

You mentioned that the same country already has millions working towards its good. I am not sure that  Kabiru, abroad who does not want to visit Nigeria until the atmosphere is conduscive, is the reason why their work may go in vain, or is not yielding much result. Neither is it Kabiru's fault that the country is as it is today. So, I am against blaming Kabiru for the situation in the country, and demanding Kabiru leave the life he has built for himself and his family, so you can simply claim he came back. Millions before him have done this already, but we are here today telling the same old story.

It is up to Kabiru to decide if his moving down to Nigeria at this time will in anyway help change things. Think of how houses are built. There are the construction workers, the electricians, the painters and the roofers.( I am in no way saying one group is better than the other, just trrying to point out the fact that we all have different works to do here). If you hired them all to build your house for you. Would you want the painter to be there on site when the construction workers are still filling in the foundation? Do you think it is wise to have the painter and the electrician, and maybe the roofing company on the clock when you have yet to lay the foundation for the house? I personally would not think any sane person would tell me that is the right way to do things.  If Kabiru believes he is more a painter than a construction worker, then allow Kabiru his freedom to return to paint the house when it is ready for him to come into the scene. Does Kabiru have a right to complain that the construction workers and the foundation layers are not doing their job quick enough and good enough? ABSOLUTELY!! Why? Cause Kabiru does not get the contribute his quota if the construction workers and foundation layers never get to do theirs.

Please Stop your attempts to demonize Kabiru and trying to make it seem HE IS THE PROBLEM, cause HE IS NOT!!! Kabirua is not the reason why the foundation layers have yet to lay the needed foundation for the building to start. It is not Kabiru's fault that the construction workers are yet to fit the walls and all necessary sides of the house.

I think we ought all to learn to respect choices people make, and learn not to impose our will on others.
