incidentally ibos are t'he biggest beneficiaries of project NIGERIA, their land is not fertile and they contribute very little or nothing to t'he national purse, yet 40percent of them live outside their region, overstreching t'he facilities of other cities whose leaders have toiled over years to build, yet they go about it with utmost disrespect to their hosts. I doubt if they can survive 5 years outside nigeria.
oh God pls help me and dash this mumu brain, remove the fish brain u gave him b4 and bless him with human brain..with that he may undestand that FG deliberatly killed SE economically with policies so as to disperse igbos to other regions and develop their deserts for them..why is govt not siting its institutions in SE whilist 60% of FG institutions are in north,30% are in SW......nigeria will never see peace with all these deliberate injustice melted on igbos...everyday for the thief but one day for the owner.

Have you heard about backward integration or forward integration?
Prior to the rice sufficiency through the loan what do you expect Nigerians to be eating?
When the farmers have made judicious use of the loan and there is surplus the borders can be blocked.

If he had blocked the birders now folks like you will scream to high heavens.
Loan at 9% is fantastic as what the banks take as interest is between 25%-35% and the loan is not even available to the poor except the Dangotes and Otedolas.
Let's learn to appreciate good moves when we see one

I see this as a wrong step, which need be stopped.

Off what benefit is it, to giving agriculturists advance loan a with interest rate at 9%, when the comptroller general of the the customs, Hameed ali has opened up area outskirts to rice merchants?

I was going to cheer the plan until I saw the loan fee - an astounding 9%. This soured the plan. Around the globe nations extremely aware of fortifying their economies particularly modern profitability, in which loaning and getting are vital, have their key loaning rates going from 0.1 to 2%.

Considering this incentive project is intended to animate rice cultivating, which would serve thepurpose of making employments, give moderate sustenance to Nigerians and stopping the huge outpouring of capital by means of rice importation; I would have thought some about the reasoning heads included in this advances plan would have think of intrigue under 1%. Around the globe, real sustenance creating nations have uncommon obtaining rate for agriculturists, and that is notwithstanding other "indirect access appropriation" plans like low yield protection, brought down rate for homestead apparatus, fuel and government financed master administrations. It appears Nigeria is yet to find the enchantment of offering charming motivating forces to ranchers... that is the base of industrialized economy - a great course out of the desensitizing over-reliance on oil by Nigerian
Yeah, politics aside,9 percent interest too high.

Osibanjo is still a child when it comes to the previous administration minister for Development Agunga or some name like that. He was blabbing all over the place about the need to increase duty on imported cars because the country was about to become a hot bed for car manufacturing. Now don't forget this is a country that cant even produce toothpick despite the abundance of trees in the country. The A** hole increased the duty by 35% just based on that fabricated assumption, without one related ventured ever being launched. Now that the smoke has cleared you will think they will revert to the old duty tariff since we all now know that fool was just selling us a bad bill of goods. Can someone tell one initiative any past or present administration in that country has ever proposed for the benefit of business environment in that country. I cant think of one.

Mydear it is a simple truth u can tell yourself..I was not a pro-biafran until I was engaged into into a long argument with some of their members..all their points are correct..google some this urself(eg.distributions of military intitutions in nigeria...military recrutment quota, fed govt owned industry distributions by zones etc,u will findd out the igbos have no fate in nigeria hence the call for succesion, why will evry zone have 6 states except SE,North west have 7 states..why will kano state have 44 LGA but the whole of south east have 96 LGA?look at the population they allocated to SE when I and you know igbos are evrywhere,,simply bc allocation sharing is based on population and strenght of national assembly depends on no of state(3 senator per state) and population distribution..they said igbos don't have any resources, yet they are the ones afraid of resource control...they said igbos are the problem of nigeria, yet the refuse to let their problem leave them..why are we still using military tailoredd constitutions in a democratic govt?..they are so many qtns begging for ans..in as much I will want a united nigeria free from corruption andd opression,I do not want to be a part of nigeria fill with cheat, injustice, nepotism replaces merit..thank God am even out of the com3

Why should the government of Nigeria give a Nigerian entrepreneur a loan with interest no matter how low when we are playing catch up in terms of development? Capitalism at work. Smh

Thank you for this. I thought I was the only one who saw the interest rate.

We keep paying subsidy on fuel consumption that is not having any positive effect on our economy instead it keeps draining the FG purse. Instead of us to stop the useless subsidy and divert the money into agriculture.

The effect will be too harsh on ordinary Nigerian. I know but its something we will eventually do.

If we can afford to keep using our funds to block the bottomless pit of subsidy, I see no reason why the government cannot provide the loan at less than 2%.

I don't blame PMB and I still blame him. Coming from CBN headed by Emefiele who has proven to be grossly incompetent or intentionally trying to sabotage the government. This is a litmus test for the Finance Minister and the Minister for Agriculture. They should call the president to order on this.

Can u give reasons why the cbn governor is grossly incompetent and reasons why he is intentionally trying to sabotage the government?

The loan actually comes from CBN at 3% but banks are allowed to charge up to a maximum of 9. Banks are business entities and not charity organizations, and that is the spread that will make them participate because they carry all the credit risk. If the farmer doesn't pay,CBN doesn't care, they just debit the bank's account and leave them to hustle their money back on their own.
