Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has inaugurated a 69 man Delta State Waterways and Land Security Committee with a charge to ensure sustainable peace and security throughout the state.

Governor Okowa who inaugurated the committee today [16/11/15] at the Government House, Asaba informed the members that their assignment was to enhance peace and security through information and intelligence gathering as well as maintain a close relationship with the various security heads in the state.

The Committee has three advisers, -Prof. Saliba Mukoro, Isaac Onyesom and Barr. Arthur Akpowowo, and 66 other members with Mr. Boro Opudu as Chairman.
‘’The Delta Waterways and Land Security’s brief is to identify and discourage the criminal elements perpetuating illegalities in the waterways and across the state, give such intelligence information to security agencies and generally maintain the peace on the waterways and in every nook and cranny of the state. You are expected to be totally loyal to both the state and the heads of security agencies, you should have a close relationship with them as your loyalty to them is loyalty to government”, Governor Okowa said.

‘’The place and importance of peace and security is dear to this administration, this is particularly so, as there can be no sustainable socio-economic development in the absence of peace and security’’, he added.

While urging Deltans to take advantage of his administration’s empowerment programmes, Senator Okowa reiterated the commitment of his administration to enthrone a legacy of wealth and prosperity for all Deltans stating ‘’ We are committed to the building of a state in which there will be more employment opportunities, a flourishing agriculture and agribusiness sector, effective health and educational system, renewed urban infrastructure and enhanced security and peace to boost economic growth and development.’’

He charged the members to see their appointment as a call to duty and be committed to providing a safer, peaceful enabling environment where Deltans can achieve prosperity.

Responding, Barrister Arthur Akpowowo, one of the advisers of the committee thanked the governor for finding them worthy to serve the state and promised that the committee will work with the security agencies to improve and sustain the existing peace and security in the state.

He better complete the Ughelli - Asaba road dualization, Warri - Abraka - Asaba road among other roads.

I just love this guy... With the way things are going, he may end up buildin a dubai here in Nigeria... @ bove poster... The warri-abraka-asaba... Is a federal road, ask sai baba bi fashola to do that
