The tears in your eyes
As I walked past
Pleading to my conscience to care
To stop, turn and ask
What troubleth thou


As you lifted up your eyes to mine
And a drop of tear fell
Emotions heightened
Just to wipe it away
And make thou free


I thought and thought of ways
To brighten your face
And return the glow
When I realised
Thou haven't spoken to me


Your hands on your belly
The longing in your eyes
The shallow intake of breath
As you took the first bite
forgetting thou moment of pain


The smile in your eyes
As I walked away
Pleasing my heart
Even as you waved and said
Thank you passer by
