You are visiting a friend or family in the hospital and along the line while waiting, maybe in the waiting room, someone with a completely broken leg or gashed skull was wheeled in, you get to feel pity such person. at home when reminiscing on all the affliction you saw in the hospital, most people would finally say edumare modupe temi o (god I thank you for my own o)
even pastors and imams, atimes when praying, they say 'many are in the hospital but you are here. many are crying but you are laughing, praise the... blah

like seriously if other people's affliction would be the reason we thank god for our own gallant health, then what should those people say to god and how will they see Him

Well, many people fail to understand how or why people find themselves in such situation. It could be a liberating experience to the victim or a chance to pay for what he or she owns nature, which is otherwise called karma. Whichever, it is a great experience which calls for thanksgiving itself. You now see someone paying his debt, and you begin thanking God that you were not given grace to pay yours....that's pretty ridiculous. In short, when you see someone in such condition, wish them strength to bear the pain. Thanking your God should be unconditional.

They should also be thankful to God (some are) as so many others are dead while they have hope.

May Allah give the sick good health. Amen.

now look at it this way,
we are in a bus and suddenly an accident occurred..
others were injured. I wasn't... thank god..
I broke a leg I didn't loose both legs... thank god..
I broke my legs and arms and didn't break my skull.. thank god..
I broke my skull I didn't die... thank god.

I died but u are alive... thank god..
I CAN ONLY LAUGH.

to thank god for a misfortune? for an affliction? please that's a joke. some people after suffering for months in serious pain, they end up dying.
