ITS VERY COMMON FOR NIGERIANS ie ME AND YOU TO BLAME PEOPLE IN AUTHORITY. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE IN THIS COUNTRY TO ASSIST THIS COUNTRY IF NOT BELIVE ME YOU DONT HAVE TO BLAME ANYONE. WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING POSSITIVE CONSISTENTLY NOT WITHSTANDING WHAT OUR LEADERS ARE DOING.

this thread will have no followership because it is not a Naija bashing thread.

Glad you are asking same question I asked 4 weeks ago https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=254820.msg3661023#msg3661023
The truth is that all the complainers have done NOTHING even in their own villages, yet they blame the "government". While other  people are using the internet to market their countries, Nigerians, from high to the very bottom are using the web to see who will tell the worst story about Nigeria.
Contrary to the slogan of this forum ,  friends of Nigeria , , it has become a gathering place for Nigeria haters and bashers. At the rate it is going, it will soon overtake "Nigeriaworld" as the worst gathering place for Nigeria bashing.
Like the other poster said, if you want following on any Nigerian medium,  bash Nigeria. What a shame !!

You are so right, it is such a sad thing, and when you speak against them, you are warned by the moderators that you will be banned, and when they attack you and curse you for defending Nigeria, the moderators look on. No objective discuss about Nigeria, anything done in Nigeria is berated by them, I concluded, they are just attention seeking folks and folks who have left Nigeria and became irrelivant, now they are trying to seek relevance by becoming a Naija basher - sometimes their arguments and criticism is so meaningless that you wonder what they are made of.

The worst is even our so called Newspapers are included. Rueben Abati of the Guardian is the worst Nigeria basher. The Punch is not far behind. Nigeriaworld.com is nothing but a gathering place for Nigeria haters. Infact, I cannot think of any Nigeria medium Print or Digital that is pro Nigeria.  Nairaland calls itself a place for ,  friends of Nigeria, , but the truth is that 89% of all posts on most of the thread are Nigeria Bashing.
It is rather sad, but stay tuned,  true lovers of Nigeria are working to counter this declared war,   soon.

Like what did you expect from Nigerians? The same Nigeria that can not provides for her citizen, Let the pa trotism start from the top then I personally will follow suit. For now what I can genuinely offer Nigeria is constructive criticism on bad governance.

Quote from AjaraEwuro post

Dont just complain YarAdua is bad - who in your honest opinion do you think will do it better than him, be honest please

From this quote, I regard you as one of Nigeria basher. I expect you to blindly be supportive of your president as a patriot.

In about 2 weeks, we will be launching a counter TRUELY Pro Nigeria website.  I am fed up with Nigeria bashing and I ttrulybelieve and know that Nigerians are honest and decent people who are being ruined and damaged in the media by mostly Nigerians abroad and at home.
Yes, we have our own share of bad apples, but show me a nation without one and I will show you a nation that does not exist.
Stay Tuned.

That sounds like a question those failing politicians would ask to mask their ineffectiveness. I am not saying the blogger who posted this is a politician, but you need to look at how hollow the question resonates. The Question should be rephrased: What Are The Positive Things You are Doing as a Nigerian. Or What Community Service Have You Rendered Since The Beginning of 2009? I am sure Nigerians are not mindless people like your question would make them appear. We have people of character who come here daily to comment on political blogs "some of you call it bashing", but even if that is the case, the fact that you commit your emotion and self to the national events and trends around you shows your deep concern and true patriotism as a good Nigerian. If we don't bash them how will they respond to our concerns. All these mounts to pressure to the sleeping political officials, it has it uses, and I say: MORE BASHING!
If you ask me about the positive things I have done: I have plenty to list like paying my taxes, not breaking any laws like my elected officials do on daily bases looting the nation treasury. And coming here to criticize those lazy leaders like Yar'adua who wont awaken from their death-like slumber. Nation building starts from working on one's character, and there are millions of Nigerians with excellent and modest personalities and incredible principles. People who are a complete opposite of this dying president of ours.
Anyways, I am not walking around asking pointless questions like what people have done personally for Nigeria. Not when my leaders are influencing my life more than I desire. The real question you should be asking is: Why Won't Nigerians Impeach Yar'adua and elect someone credible.

Why not tomorrow? make sure you get in touch with your chief propagandist, madam re-branding so that you can get seal of approval. Forget 2million match for Abacha? You can do the same for Yara dull.
Re: What Have U Done Personally For Nigeria ? by RevMallam: 7:22pm On May 31, 2009
@walata44
You got it all wrong my friend. I don't know anyone who works for the government and I don't want to. I am not pro any government and believe only Nigerians can solve their own problems . I don't need "a seal of approval" from anyone to promote Nigerians\Nigeria. I don't even live in Nigeria for that matter, but I visit home on a regular basis.
However, as a Nigerian I am sick and tired of people like you who shoot down any attempt to promote Nigeria and Nigerians. In the office I work in, there are six other Nigerian Software engineers and we all believe people like you are doing a great disservice to Nigeria professionals by portraying them as incompetent by branding all Nigerians as people like you do. You dwell in, and promote negativity. You continue to perpetuate the myth of pristine worlds in far away countries, never mind that those countries have same problems as Nigeria, only difference is, their citizens are not trumpeting it. Tent cities are springing up here in the USA, but you don't  hear Americans dwell on it. Contrary to what people like you believe, nobody really cares about your problems because everybody got one.
Those who dwell in the negativity, never see beyond failures !!

Mr know all, it is only Nigerians who tell you the way you ask your question is wrong and correct you the question should be asked their own way- is that intelligence or foolery? Me thinks it is foolery - answer the question just as it has been asked.

the question didnt ask if you are a Nigerian or not, this is how people fail exams. If you are not a Nigerian, simply say you havent done anything for Nigeria instead of giving an in consequential answer.

There will always be some people whose personal, selfish interests are, in the short term at least, well served by the mismanagement and social iniquities. Naturally they will be extremely loud in their adulation of the country and its system and will be anxious to pass themselves off as patriots and to vilify those who disagree with them as troublemakers or even traitors. BUT DOOMED IS THE NATION WHICH PERMITS SUCH PEOPLE TO DEFINE PATRIOTISM FOR IT” – Chinua Achebe
