Northern youth under the aegis of the Arewa Triumphant Youth Foundation, have begged the Indigenous People of Biafra and members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra to lay down their arms and embrace dialogue for peace to reign in the land. They said they would not be happy to see the South- Eastern part of the country break away from Nigeria. ATYF’s National President, Ibrahim Yusuf, spoke at a press conference on Friday to herald activities lined up for a proposed Arewa Youth Leadership Summit scheduled for this month in Kaduna. Yusuf said it was regrettable that major actors in Biafra violence, Boko Haram insurgency, kidnapping and Fulani herdsmen crisis across the country were youth of present generation. According to him, there is no point for our eastern brothers and sisters to be agitating to pull out of Nigeria regardless of ethnic and religious inclinations. “We are brothers. We should be able to live together as one big family. Nothing should separate us. MASSOB should lay down their arms, and allow us to stay together for the betterment of this great country. “There is no doubt that 99 per cent of these people that are into these various crises are young persons, and this is because they are jobless, and to stop them from being violent, government at all levels must provide jobs and the enabling environment for the youth. “President Buhari should fulfill his promise paying N5,000 to unemployed persons in the country, even though I don’t support the idea of sharing money because it may cause crisis, and make people lazy. “I will rather support government giving the people nets to catch fish than giving them fish to eat, and rebuild the country of one nation, one vision and one goal. “Government should realise that as one Nigeria, until it brings everybody together, the country will continue to have crisis.”

When this biafran stuff started, I thought nigerians would finally be happy that the igbos are leaving

I remember how lagos was when I was before elections, everyone calling me "omo igbo" I don't what that means but from their tone, I could sense it was insulting. One yoruba boy said he's voting buhari so he'll deal with igbos..


Even nairaland wasn't different...they blamed igbos. The protests in lagos against igbos, Oba beefing etc

If we were brothers as you claim, you won't single their zone out for maltreatment and starve it of federal investment / infrastructure. Even though the north didn't vote for GEJ, he gave more than 85% of his infrastructure development to the north. That is how to show you are a leader not a vengeful pharaoh. The SE and SS should be allowed to build their future away from the vengeful northern led quasi-dictatorship and systematic plot to make the less than slaves in their own land. God Forbid!
The perpetual cold war against sections of this country must come to an end.

If we were brothers as you claim, you won't single them out to make sure they are excluded from governance of Nigeria and under represented in every way possible.

BTW, Massob or IPOB don't have arms. It is against their charter, but they will arm and activate their right to self defence if northern youth take the step of killing Igbos. Someone's got to retaliate for those killings you know that just how Nigeria works.

Biafra can be possible, Biafra possibility and viability doesn’t stop Biafra relationship with Nigeria. The way Nepal hasn’t stopped cordial relationship with India nor Hong Kong stopping relationship with Mainland China. I just keep asking why can’t we African think, must we be violent. There can be Biafra and other countries but in a confederation form, something we have in United Kingdom.
