Kobojunkie:

Maybe this is because majority of them have seen their fathers, mothers and relatives work ridiculously hard as slaves to those in government, yet barely ever being able to make ends meet. Do you really blame them for wanting to get out to a place where the story is the government’s foot is not on the success of its people?
You might laugh now but it is the truth. I grew up during the times when we had next to decent millionaires in that country, and there were few of them. Once corruption became the new trend, millionaires started popping up all over the place, many we still have no clue what they actually do for a living. I remember some of my own classmates became millionaires and big boys in town. A particular one who failed at most everything in school became the first millionaire my class could boast of. When asked what he does, no one seems to have a clue.

average people dont just become millionaires over night. It takes maybe a year or so depending on what you do.

Already established businessmen/enterprenuers can make a million or more a month. it all depends on your capital and your line of venture.

Kobojunkie:

I am not sure it is the case that we do agree here. What I meant to say is that the average Nigerian abroad feels he is a guaranteed millionaire if he ever decides to go back to Nigeria. Not because he has new skills or new ideas to bring to the table on how to fix Nigeria but that the fact that he has been abroad, not only boosts his resume but also ensures he gets preferential treatment when it comes to getting a job or a leadership position in that country.
If you don’t believe it, take a look at your politicians and you will see that quite a number of them lived abroad for some time, then came back to start work in leadership with access to loot, with not much hard work done. If you investigate the resumes of these people, you would see that many of them had next to no solid experiences in any field while abroad.

Thats true.(for those connected)

Everyone behind the idea of coming to Nigeria is thinking profit. You want to steal form your fatherland without contributing to her development. I have a word for you, "Nigeria is not a dumping ground or a source of quick wealth"

Says who? The politicians we have now proved it. Their kids have tested and found it to be the case. Nigeria is dumping ground for the least talented and the get rich quick country for all Nigerians unwilling to stand up to competition outside of Nigeria oo!!! I will probably do it soon too so stop badmouthing until after i go get my share ooo!!

@poster
this thread really made my day,considering this same issue has been weighing on my mind since the 26th of august when i came back from holidaying in nigeria,i got told severally about this same china venture and i couldnt believe how far people have gone economically and financially in nigeria,i stayed almost a week in ibadan and i was being driven around in a luxury 4x4 yet i did not hear or experience any armed robbery on the scale that is being touted before one travels,same for lagos all through my stay, while the western world has its advantages in terms of the quality of life and a prompt and efficient way of doing things,the fact of the matter is that a developing economy with its many disadvantages,insecurity and what have you is still a better and viable option,i am working towards a financial target cash at hand in a nigerian bank by the end of next year,and if the lord helps me in achieving it,then im picking up my bags,shipping all my bits and bobs,and moving to nigeria, ill be going back in december and making up my mind to go every three months by GOD's grace
