Now that you felt like regaling us with how FOOLISH your father is, out of my respect for my parents I ignored all your garbage and went to the point; how is he faring? Exactly what is wrong with his health?

Prayers are a useful coping mechanism for many people and therefore serve a very useful purpose emotionally and psychologically. THis is irrelevant of whether or not there is a God or gods. Prayer serves this purpose regardless of choice of deity. Of course it does not work for every one as we all have varying levels of credulity or skepticism.
There are many other activities that are used for coping by different people some smoke ,work out ,screw or do charity work etc. What is important is to have insight and self awareness to realize what one is doing.
I do not necessarily believe that there is some deity listening to the millions of selfish ejaculations that people call prayers but it does serve a useful purpose for them and also keeps them out of trouble and antisocial activity
