The sensitivity and impact of ACF’s proclamation and Na’Allah parliamentary joke may be very difficult for people outside the Niger Delta to actually appreciate. But in the region, there is only one interpretation- the north is only interested in free access to the abundant oil and gas resources in the Niger Delta even if it means killing everybody in the region to achieve that- whether they are criminals, militants or even the harmless natives.

From the standpoint of the people of the Niger Delta, the ACF was only stating what the region had known for a very long time.

Manifest of the people directing the military offensive region shows that the Commander of the JTF operation is an Arewa man, the propagandist for the military operation is an Arewa man and the President that authorized the attack is also an Arewa man. This is in addition to another Arewa man that pushed the bill at the National Assembly asking the JTF to go for a thorough kill. Also, Majority, if not all the serving mobile police officers and soldiers currently in the Niger Delta are Arewa (including the aliens).

Na’Allah was even very clear in expressing this worrying mindset when he said something to the effect that since Nigeria is a populous country with over 140 million people he will not mind so much if the 20 million people of the Niger Delta who are giving the rest of the nation so much ‘headache’ in the exploitation of crude oil in the place are exterminated so that the rest of Nigeria can have peace.

And why would that lead to a 2nd civil war?

You are a big slowpoke!

Exactly why there might be a second civil war in Nigeria, maybe you should let someone reply before insulting them.

Yes i support this, until Nigeria stop playing on people intelligent and do thing the way it should be done there will be no peace in this country. Look at how devastated the Niger Delta Region is, the list developed in all the region in Nigeria. Look at the share of federal infrastructures.
1. refinery in Kaduna
2.federal textile industries in kaduna
3.aviation school in kaduna
4.Nigeria Defence Academy in Kaduna
5.kaduna has the highest number of federal high institutions, that is why they taq 'center of learning'
6. many not mentioned here
How many of this federal amenities do they have in bayelsa, delta, akwa ibom ,or even Rivers but this are people who could not farm because their farmlands as been contaminated with crude oil, they suffer diseases due to gas burning in the area and aquatic animal are no more in abundance. Yet govt. only engage in talks

@bgees poster is entitled to his analysis and conclusion, if you have any oppossing view to his, do so in a civil manner. The issue in the Niger Delta is strong enough to escalate to civil war but for the selfish attitude of an average Nigerian, who is not ready to die for his brothers, nobody is ready to sacrifice his time and life for the country even those who claim to love Nigeria to their marrow, myself inclusive.

Remember the two gun shots of 28th June 1914 fired by Princip, killing Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, lead to the first world war hence the death of 9million army and 13million civilians. We must learn from history
Re: The Nigeria Second Civil War Is On The Way by IFELEKE(m): 5:57pm On Jun 06, 2009
@Poster,
The Origin/source of your agitation(The Niger Delta war) is already jaundiced because majority of the Niger Delta Freedom Fighters are only fighting for their pockets, for their share of the Illegal bunkering proceeds.
Maybe other genuine agitations can cause a civil war but it will definately not come from these Militants.

You really don't need to end a good point with profane ending.

and why is that a selfish attitude? If you know the character of your brothers and understand that your dying wont change them/anything, then why waste your life for nothing?

why do Nigerians always confuse wisdom with weakness?

dont know if you can read English but you're certainly not pulling the wool over my eyes.

Southerners are the ones calling for war.

It used to be the northerners preaching jihad but even they are sitting on their haunches watching the southerners attempting to organize themselves and unite for war.

And you and your people are knowing all these in 2009? So where were you before? I guess sleeping as usual? Nonsense. Your fathers sold your birth rights to the hausa/fulanis just to spite Igbos, so deal with your situation. You aint getting out of it any time soon. And to the thread opener, sorry to bust your bubble, there aint going to be any second civil war unless it's gonna be only between your people and the hausa/fulani and of which Igbos will not tolerate any refugees in our territory. You guys deserve what's befalling you today, so stop crying.

Unfortunately they have no inclination as to how to unite themselves, pity.

the general idea is to buy, threaten or discredit anyone who doesnt join them.

that way it looks like they have a unified majority and get the opposition silenced.

Good morning to the niger delta. the same way ojukwu told told saro wiwa the day he was hanged.
if i have ways, i will say, it is rather too late.
niger delta on the other hand is like a house divided against itself hence it will be extreemly difficult for it to stand.
those who are calling for this war are rather inviting death upon the poor people of the area.

The probability that Nigeria will go the way of Somalia in the future is quite high. The only thing keeping us sane is the massive profits we get from oil. When this commodity ceases to have any value, this deep seated irrational hate for another that speaks a different language will most assuredly lead to another war. The MP failed to state that 'rebels' who carry weapons illegally should be attacked rather he subscribed to killing everyone one living in that region as if that would solve the problem.

This mistrust and generalisations based on tribal bias should cease if we would progress as a people and avoid a calamity like the quagmire the Somalians find themselves in today.

Fortunately you cannot buy, coerce, or defame individuals into a sense of TRUE unity which our Hausa/Fulani comrades have possessed for centuries.

Why are you guys so pessimistic? War cannot break out in nigeria. The average nigerian is so meek and peaceful. . . . .at least judging by the way politicians steal our elections and we just get on with our lives.

The next Nigerian civil war if it happens will either be a short brutal affair, which resolves nothing or a long one that will see the rewriting of much of the map of West Africa. Do not ask me to prove it I just have a knack for predicting things accurately. My first attempted novel as a sixteen year old was titled 20the Century Jihad.

Nope, unless my speakers are no longer working.

My question was not about how current or outdated the "saying" was but what it meant.

I want to know why someone intending to kill an enemy would need to dig 2 graves.

When did the name Jamaica come into being to begin with that a "saying" will become so outdated that it cannot have any meaning?
