All these jonathanian children who still wallow in ignorance and misinformation never cease to amaze me. As at early December 2014, the naira value was at N155 to $1. But as at May 29th, the value stood at N220 to $1; that was a crash of N65 within 6 months even though global oil prices was still at $65/barrel as at May 2015 and this was at the start of the recession when there should still have been some reserve saved funds to manage the situation.

On the flip side, the value of the naira is about N280 to $1 today; that is a crash of N60 in 7 months and may I state here that crude presently sells globally for $35/barrel and the government of GEJ left basically no saved funds to manage such a situation.

So when next some of you jonathanian infantiles want to politicise the nation's current predicament, may you be reminded that GEJ and his NOI headed economic team did not manage the situation better even though they had much more resources. You will only ridicule yourselves and your god (GEJ) if you continue making this silly comparison.

My point was very clearly outlined for even a kindergaten pupil to understand. I was simply addressing a general misconception by you jonathanians about GEJ handling the economy (following oil price crash) better than PMB. Like I said, if you are smart, you should have attacked the direct facts and figures I quoted instead of resorting to the all too usual bickering about nothing.

No it is a silly comarison because while the poster was trying to mock PMB in his analysis, the figures actually say the opposite. Go back and read what I wrote and tell me I am wrong.

You claimed that GEJ managed the recession better than PMB, but yet under GEJ, the Naira lost N65 in 6months (and this is even when oil still sold above $65/barrel. Meanwhile under PMB, the naira has lost N60 in 7 months (even with oil selling at $35 presently). Any person with an education should be able to compare the difference and judge who is doing better. This is just a case of elementary comprehension abilities, except you both are claiming not to have this.

First of all, the exchange rate at the parallel market was N220 to $1 as at the time of handover in May 2015. The exchange rate was N155 in early December 2014.

Secondly, it is only airheads that still believe and spread the falsehood that PMB said he will make N1 = $1; this issue was thrashed and eventually trashed during the elections. Obviously, only airheadds would still hold on to this even though the only journalist who claimed he heard PMB make this statement in public couldn't provide a recording (meanwhile he alleged that the statement was made in public at a campaign rally).

Now to the matter at hand, only an airhead would claim he/she doesnt know the reason behind the rapid fall in value of the Naira. When a country depends on basically one item for its forex income and the market for that item crashes, there is bound to be a scarcity of forex and with scarcity, the price goes up.

Now both GEJ's government and Buhari's governmment suffered the impact of this oil price crash and recession; GEJ's government at its tail end felt the impact while PMB's government has suffered the impact from day 1. Within the last 6 months of GEJ's reign (Dec'14-May'15), the value of the naira at the parallel market dropped by 42% (N155 to N220) while within the 7 months of PMB's reign, the value of the naira in the parallel market has dropped so far by 27.27% (N220 to N280). This is notwithstanding the fact that even as at handover, the oil prices were still marginally higher than what it is today.

With these figures dangling in your faces, someone who claims to be educated and smart and who wants to politicise the misfortunes of Nigeria now argues that GEJ handled the recession better?.... Even with my explanations, you still CONFIDENTLY think I am making a mockery of myself?... Your case is even more pathetic than I imagined and you keep publishing your ignorance in ALL CAPITAL letters.

The exchange rate at the parallel market was not 155 Naira to the US dollar in early December 2014. It was circa 185 Naira. A good Internet search should rejig your memory or even this Nairaland thread:https://www.nairaland.com/68738/how-much-did-exchange-dollar/88

You are obviously lost, I suggest you scroll back up and read about what this thread is all about. It is a direct comparison between GEJ's handling of the situation vs. PMB's handling of the situation. Yet you want to focus on only PMB's side of the fence for obvious reasons and you think that makes sense?
