Hello Everyone,
I want to go into online biz,but i have find it difficult,cuz of the epiliptic power supply of the country.I don't want to go for a Generator cuz of the smoke,noise.etc.
Can any1 here tell me or give me another alternative aside from generator?

yeah I also think u shld go 4 solar energy it very cost effective on the long run and it enviromental friendly no air pollution, no noise pollution no more diesel buying, maintenance and all that comes with running a generator so solar energy it is and we got a lot of sun in niger!

Go to computer village and search for an inverter. You can get an automatic inverter for as low as 25,000 naira and a manual one for as little as 14,000 naira. You can supplement this with a tiny generator. Cheers!

@seun pls how do the inverter u talked of work.i mean what appliances can it power.can it power a whole house.and how long does it last when charged.i ask this cos i would love to get one

An inverter can power a single computer for 4 hours if you buy a 100ah battery and charge it fully.
It can power a Centrino laptop all day if you have 5-7 hours of electricity every evening on the same battery.

Maybe it can power a whole house, but that is not very important since your primary concern is e-business.

The cheapest way to generate electricity independently is to burn fuel.
Why do you think you need to do without generators? Tell me, so I can advice you.

@seun using generator is quite expensive considering the price of fuel in the mkt today.so thats why i want someting i can add to phcn electricity mainly to run my e business and if possible power my house.i normally have phcn light daily say 6 hrs
daily sometimes 10 and sometimes more.

It is one thing that you need power to run your laptop and printer and it is another thing that you need power to run your Deep freezer, iron and washing machine. See Solar is by far more expensive than Generator and if care is not taken "it does not do exactly what it says on the tin". I have tried solar in Nigeria and these were the problems i faced.

(1) You need a qualifed electrician to wire up the whole stuff accurately.

(2) The cost of the following far exceeded the cost of a generator that will supply the equivalent energy.
a) solar panel b) inverter c) energy storage battery. d) monitoring and cut flow device.

(3) Everyone claims we have abundant sunlight is that really through; the solar panel is not interested in
intesity but is interested in the U.V component of sun. So this means how long do we have exposure to
sunlight in Nigeria, it is typically 10.5hrs on a good day. In many other non equitorial regions it can reach up to
15hrs in some seasons.
That means we must have very good battery storage capacity. Which brings me to the last point ??

(4) Most of the energy is drainned out over night and before the solar recharges the batteries we are talking
about 10a.m the next morning this compounds the problem of depending on only solar for your energy
requirement.

Conclusion: Is that Solar is an alternative when you remove investment costs, all though in the long term the fuel and maintenance costs of a generator will exceed the cost of a solar system but it will have to be[b] over a period[/b] of 2yrs.

Depending on the capacity. The one I have in my office runs for 10 hours. About 8 laptops, 3 laser jet printers and a refrigerator etc.

If you buy a laptop, you will only need a 1000kva generator that costs about 15,000 naira and a 14,000 naira inverter of the same rating. You will also need a battery which I think is under 15,000 naira. Period!

I think he is right. Inverter is the way to go.  The catch is that u'll still need electricity to charge the inverter, secondly the short term cost can very expensive. But in the long run, it will be good decisions.
