What exactly are your plans and ambitions in life? Are you not tired of walking from one office to the other everyday in search of jobs, are you set to continue doing things same old way? Let me tell you, nothing works until you work. An adage says that heaven helps those who help themselves. Remember, the journey of a thousand miles starts with a step.

You have to get up right now, pick up your pen and start writing down what you want to achieve or become from today. I would advise that you streamline all your ideas into just one powerful idea, don’t be a jack of all trade because too many cooks spoil the broth. I have to warn you here that you will fail in that idea and you will fail again but do not be discouraged, nothing good actually comes easy, the failures you will encounter at the earlier stages of your ideas are the powerful stepping stones to the one idea with a million bucks which will eventually launch you into limelight.

We see great minds like Dangote, Adenuga, Innoson Chukwuma, Mark Zuckerberg and we envy them without having any idea what their journey had been. I was listening to young Jason Njoku of iROKOtv on his “Failing All the Way to Success’’ speech and he said that iROKOtv was actually his 11th idea. He had previously registered 10 companies and they all failed but he did not give up, the same way Nigeria’s current president Buhari did not give up on his presidential ambitions after three failed attempts.

When I graduated in 2010, I made up my mind not to work for anybody five years after my graduation, that I am going to have my own business and employ others. Five years down the line, I successfully registered my own company with the Corporate Affairs Commission and I pay my own bills after so many years of creating different other ideas and failing at them. There are actually a million problems in this world which we can cash in from but often times we are too busy looking at white collar jobs which are virtually non-existent and we fail to see these problems. Everyday we see secondary school students failing their SSCE and JAMB exams, we see people growing bald at 25, we see garbage littered everywhere in our environment, we see our youths preferring European football league matches to our local leagues. Solving problems like these can make millions for us.

Did you know that the founder and CEO of WhatsApp Jan Koum applied for a job with Facebook and was rejected after losing his job with Yahoo Inc. in 2007, but he went back and developed WhatsApp in 2009 which Facebook later acquired at a whopping sum of 19 billion dollars and equally made him a Managing Director in Facebook, a place he was previously rejected.

The dangers of our inability to create jobs now is that we will be jobless because there are only few jobs out there and the younger generations coming up will equally be jobless because we fail to create jobs for them now.

Remember that before now Nigerians did not take blogging seriously until Linda Ikeji and Uche Pedro of Bella naija started making millions and buying mansions in Banana Island out of the proceeds they make in blogging, today every dick and harry wants to own a blog.

For you to create that million dollar idea, you must first believe in it, you must create it, you must fail in it and you must rise up and try again until you succeed in it. One thing about the big names we hear today in the business world is that they did not know that their small ideas would end up becoming a million dollar idea. If people like Bill Gate, Mark Zuckerbeg, Jan koum, Dangote, Innoson Chukwuma who did not finish their college education could create million dollar businesses, how much more you that is a graduate. So, I challenge you today to rise to the occasion and start creating that million dollar idea, you may be the next big thing coming out of Africa. Do not despise the days of little beginning for your God rejoices to see the work begin. I wish you a very successful million dollar business journey ahead.
