Bible Reading: Genesis 16: 1-5 (KJV)
1 Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no children: and she had a handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.
2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.
3 And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.
4 And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.
5 And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee.
Things to Consider here:
1) Conception of women are orchestrated by God himself and not by human knowledge of whatsoever, be it Science or Human philosophy. It is only by heavenly Father.
Psalm 127:3
Lo, children are the heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Genesis 29:31
And when the Lord saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was
Barren.
Sarah attested to this fact from our main text, when she said the Lord hath restrained me from bearing and not like Rachel that told Jacob her husband to give her children like his 1st wife Leah.
Genesis 30:1
And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.
For as many that are looking upto God for this wonderful gift, it is our earnest prayer that God will answer you this month in that mighty name of Jesus.
2) No alternatives solutions to your problem whatsoever but God is the only therapy you need.
In Sarah’s mind God was getting late and the only alternative was to look for support to God’s plan. Brethren it will at the long run resulted to painful decisions for every alternative solution you get outside God. The whole world is in a mess of this singular decision of alternative of Sarah rubber stamp by his Husband.
3) Every suggestions, advice, ideas etc. must be beamed in the search light of God’s words and Holy Spirit regardless of whosoever is giving them. Be it your wife/husbands whom we assume should be closet, even words of advice from Pastors, Prophets, and Friends etc. these days must be weighed in the same vein. It will have been better for the whole world if Father Abraham have considered this advice of his wife in the light of what God told him before jumping outside God’s will for his life. Don’t forget he was the only one God told of his promises and not his wife. So we cannot always blame the woman but the man who brought his intention to bear by quickly hearkened to the voice of his wife.
4) God hold us responsible as a man for every mistakes made by our household. Sarah herself blame the husband for her wrong in giving the maid to him. So men we have enormous responsibility to guard diligently our home.
Prayer Points:
1) The Miracle of waiting on you to know your mind in the midst of challenges, Lord release it unto me this year.
2) Costly mistakes that will not only affect me but my entire generation after me, Father enable me not to make such in the mighty name of Jesus.
Prayer of Salvation:
The only way to God is through Jesus Christ, so if you want to have a relationship with God kindly say after me.
Lord Jesus I come to you as a sinner, I want to be washed from my sins, please wash me clean in your blood. I surrender my entire life onto you for guardians through your Holy Spirit. Write my name in the book of life, thank you for saving me. In Jesus Mighty name I pray. Amen.
