I have watched how a 16 year old niece of mine has been relating to my mother. She dropped in for a short visit from my village. She does (ONLY ) what she is told.

The other day my mother told her to make lunch and just mentioned where she would find some of the ingredients. She did not mentions one of the important ingredients - onions, because they are right there, in full view(onions here are as important as pepper in Nigeria.) She made the dish without onions. grin

She stays hungry if my mum forgets to tell her to make lunch shocked .

The other day, she was telling me the advantages of boarding school.
"When you are coming or going to lunch as a day scholar, you can meet an elderly lady washing her clothes at the river. You'd have to get late for classes because you have to help her¡" shocked I wouldn't notice the old lady if I was in a hurry to get back to school after my short lunch break angry

Watching her has made me realise that I may be just a little bit "unAfrican" in my habits.
