Atheists, Agnostics And Freethinkers: Share Your Relationship Experience by HardMirror(m): 9:42am On Jan 06, 2016

I have been through over 6 relationships within the last 2 years. Getting ladies is never a problem for me and I know they are all really into me, but the one problem Nigerian girls have with me is not practicing any religion.

I don't pretend or hide it from people around me that I am not religious; my family knows, friends know and I let any girl in my life know.

Initially they try to convert me, but after some months they realize that I am serious about my stand.

I am still very close to all 6 of my ex. They come around, we talk, we go out together etc but we know it'll lead to nothing because I don't believe in god as described by existing religions.

Is there anyone having similar experience here? Let's share it.

It takes a certain amount of courage to be a able to believe in something and stand strong in your belief in that thing, irrespective of what other people say, especially friends and family. So I must say, I really admire your courage.

I can't share any experiences because I am Christian and I have never dated anyone that's not from my religion. If tomorrow I eventually meet a lady who is an Atheist or freethinker, I would be very glad, because most people like you have a way of thinking that's different from the rest. You guys tend to be more open to new ideas, conscientious, rational, calculated and in most cases very intelligent and I admire such qualities in a lady. Plus it's definitely going to be interesting in a lot of ways.

There is as much probability that an Athiest will break up with you as there is a Christian or a Muslim.

Traditional marriage and in a law court.

I respect peoples choices and I never try to convert anyone, the problem is the average Nigerian assumes something is psychologically wrong with anyone who does not believe what they believe. And there is also fear of retribution for being in relationship with people like me.
Honestly every lady I have dated find it hard to totally let go. They still hang around, but marriage is off the table.

Why will I date a guy who doesn't belief God exist, or in spirituality? Or practice a religion.

Op this is Africa, where voodoo powers exist, witches and wizard are real.

Women are the pillar of the family, they are to build and protect the family both physically and spiritually.

How will they do this if they have no one to pray to?

I have lots of agnostic and atheist friends online. my best friend in real life is likewise agnostic. the other friend doesn't even care.
in fact, my friends are too much. they are limiting my free time. the other day, a third friend tried to convert me to Islam. of course, he left feeling very rotten. even though he wasted my whole day.

And don't forget, it's not about having same religious inclination, but is she all I want in a lady?

*thinking* why are nigerians conservative? We don't try out new food, we don't appreciate a wide range of music, we see people who don't believe what we do as weird without even being open minded to their reasons.
