What Should I Do Now, Please Help by Ojochegbe1(m): 3:08pm On Jan 08, 2016
OK it goes this way. I'm currently doing an internship with company A which promised to offer me job at the end of the program, precisely early March.

Fortunately, i attended an interview in company B this week that offered me the job instantly and the pay is 70k, but is a little far from where i stay.

The problem now is this;

If i accept the offer from company B, i will lose the opportunity of getting job in company A,
but what if the company A come up with another story after the internship what will do?

Please don't mind my English oo, ur thought is highly welcome.

I think you should know how much you will spend on transportation first. If your end means can be met which i believe should be, then you can consider switching. Another issue is career prospect- you might want to consider the one that will bring rapid career growth and development.

March is not far but as you said, you are not sure if Company A will employ you which means any decision taken in favor of company A is a risk. Well, it good to take risk actually so the decision is yours. Analyze and decide. Best of luck

Thanks God I came across this post, 2012/2013 I did intern job with an NGO, based on my performance during the period my colleague went for annual leave I took up both responsibilities, as a result of this my supervisor called me to his office and promised that he will write a justification when my one year contract expires which he did, and the white Lady who is the country director refused with excuses that she doesn't want the position to be permanent, that was how I lost that job, l heard last year before she finally left Nigeria she asked my supervisor and four other staff to resign.

Within that period a particular organization invited me twice for an interview which I turned down, busy doing my job and hoping I have a job already, but the reality was ugly. Laughed.

Please go resume that JOB.

Since both of them are in-line with ur career (I.T) and company A promise to pay more, i think you should just keep faith with company A, especially since company B is far from where you live, its just a risk you have to take, after all life itself is a risk

well, so confused cha, d truth of d matter is dat, it suppose to b a full employment, but d other person I'm assisting now have 5yrs experience while i am having 2yrs. But there told me that all through d 4 stages of interviews, i did very well that y there are giving d opportunity to prove myself practically.

Madam. There is no confusion about this u just have to be wise.

The wise ones say. A bird in hand is far more better than 1000 in d bush.
Your full employment with A is still in d bush, since uve not signed any contract.

Btw, even tho d bird in ur hand is cripled, its still a bird, with time uld know how to deal with its disability or beter still find a way to cure it.

That cripled bird in ur hand is the 70k job. It will never be as worse as that guy that was offered 30k job ad a strong 2.1 holder.
Use ur brain

I was in almost the same situation about 2month ago and I decided to go for the one that offers immediate employment, though with lesser benefits to the company I was on training with. What I did which I will also advice u to do is this.....look for the someone, especially within the HR unit who has a say in deciding if u will be employed and explain the situation to him or her.talk to the person not like an employer but like a younger brother who needs advice at a critical stage like this....the person will be able to tell u the level of certainty of getting employed with them....with that, it can easily inform ur decision.

I should be quick to mentioning here that the same company A I was on training with later gave me the chance to apply for the vacant post even when I was away with the new company B. But unfortunately after passing all the interview, the new Director of finance who is an Indian man said I am use to the environment already and that the sacked person in that position b4 had trained me on how to manipulate the position for a personal benefits. Hence they gave the job to another person....what ought to work to my advantage now worked against me.....Iya really mysterious indeed. But thank Allah, am really enjoying where I am now and they are even likely gona review ma salary soon. Though even of they review the salary, it's still not up to what I will get if company A had employed me.

Stay with Company A and keep developing and learning. A prestigious company will not go back on their word.

Above all, follow your heart.

Be honest with yourself. The internship will end in March, and the company said they will retain you. What are the things you saw that made you search for other jobs? Make your decisions based on other criteria not the money.

The reality is that any pay below 100k at least is too small for a graduate. Only you can decide for yourself on this matter.
