I am writing this to emphasis the importance of water to our health. Water is the main component of the human body, so its adequate and regular consumption is very necessary and has numerous health benefits. As an added plus, it has no calories, fat, carbohydrates or sugar.

Water is a life giver and there is nothing as essential as water as our survival depends largely on it. An apple is 80% water, tomato 95%, pawpaw 90%, and an orange 95% water. The human body is 70% water and the earth surface is 70% water.

This is to demonstrate how essential water is, to healthy living and survival. The amount you consume everyday plays an important role in maintaining a healthy body. Experts recommend drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water each day to maintain good health. It is medicinal and we should avail ourselves of the life it gives.

• Water helps keep the body well hydrated, which is essential because almost every cell in the body needs water to function properly

• Water quenches thirst and the most natural thing for a thirsty person is to demand for water not a processed liquid or soft drink, which only suppresses thirst for some time.

• Water improves the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, helps in digestion and prevents constipation. Inadequate water in the body often results in constipation as the colon pulls water from the stools to maintain hydration. Drinking sufficient water boosts metabolism and helps the body properly break down food. This helps digestive system work well and promotes regular bowel movements. Warm water, in particular, is good for digestive health.

• The body depends largely on purified water and organic foods to cleanse the colon and prevent growth of cancerous tumor which may eventually grow into colorectal or colon cancer. Colon cancer is the second most common cancers plaguing both men and women today. A tumor that forms in either the colon or rectum normally grows very slowly. And because of its slow growth, it doesn’t show any sign or symptom for a long period of time. What happens more often than not is… by the time colon cancer is diagnosed, it is already at its advanced stage. This is unfortunate because, at this stage (stage 4), cancer is extremely difficult to treat. It requires more than one treatment and the survival rate is poor. Enough water helps lubricate and wash the colon and prevent this from happening.

• Water keeps the blood thin and light, so that it flows freely and smoothly, to supply the essential minerals needed for a healthy body.

• Water also moderates body heat, preventing it from rising too high or too low. Water acts as a lubricant for the joints, keeping them healthy and strong.

• Water is an excellent detoxifier as it helps flush out toxins from your body and get rid of waste primarily through sweat and urine.

• It promotes kidney function and reduces kidney stones by diluting the salts and minerals in urine that cause kidney stones.

Water Therapy
Water therapy is a scientific method of drinking water to promote health and bring healing. When you wake in the morning, drink at least five cups of water. It is better to do this as soon as you wake up, before doing anything. Drink more water in the course of the day. Drink as mush as you can, but never during eating. Drink water one hour before or after meals never during meals. This is because the body produces its own enzymes for digestion. So, drinking while eating leads to dilution of these enzymes, which makes them loose their concentration. Also drink about two or three cups before going to bed at night.

This simple therapy should not be taken for granted. The simplest things in nature are often the most important. Cases of Diabetes, Cancer, Hypertension, Arthritis, Stroke and other illnesses have been reversed through water therapy. Let us make use of water for the health and betterment of ourselves and the world. Drink enough purified water and also include other fluids and foods with high water content like fruits in your diets.
