JAMES ONUOHA WE KNOW - Friends of James Onuoha

Nigerians love breaking news, we all jump into conclusion - he is corrupt, he is a murderer, he is thief and to the greatest shock of our lifetime our friend of 30 years is a rapist. There is that possibility of a friend being a rapist but why is the first word coming out of every one that has known James Onuoha is "I could almost swear he wouldn't do a thing like that".

Let describe this rapist, James is 5' tall, born with a birth defect, locked left knee. He wears a strapped rod to support his special left leg. To compensate for his deformity God blessed James with sound intelligent, an A+ WEAC student and a Second Class Upper division (2-1) in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt. Throughout his study in secondary school to University of Port Harcourt and years of service as an engineer he has never been known to smoke, drink alcohol or flirt with women. Not one single alteration with the law. Not one single previous police arrest.

After his primary school, there was a thin line between going to seminary school to become a Catholic Reverend Father and heading into a secular school. They say a people die because of lack of vision. Maybe as a Reverend Father, he will not be in this position today.

Leadership is a special strength; this personality in a class of 90 students was appointed as Class Representative of Department of Petroleum Engineering. A position that demands fighting for the welfare of your classmates from tough lecturers. Did he do a good job? Yes! and to graduate with a second class upper division combining academic and reps work in a five years course turned into 6 years thanks to ASUU strikes is not a rapist endeavor.

Before we all bury Mr. Onuoha alive we should spare a thought to consider the What ifs. They are so many questions that bother his friends. How many landlords will let you hold two years rent without forceful eviction? How many people at his age are good landlords? How responsible is the Okolis not to pay two years rent? Leave their 3 year old in the care of a 14 year old. How come the women association that had the initial report suddenly withdrew and cancelled their appointment with Onuoha? The doctors have identified a forceful entry with semen samples, common sense will settle this, semen carries the DNA of the donor, now it is time to compare the DNA of the accused, DNA of Mrs Okoli husband, DNA of all the males in Mrs. Okolis household to that collected from the purported rape victim so we can hang James Onuoha if he is guilty or the real suspect if there was any rape to start with.

We are always quick to condemn, especially when we think the underdog is at the receiving end. Let's not give a dog a bad name to hang it...Let's let justice prevail and not try James in the court of popular opinion... filled with prejudice and love for sensationalism.

So sad to read this sort of issue that has to do with human dignity.We are in a society where people do not see reason from the right point of view, rather, resort to stories they heard instead of doing the right thing in order to get the truth.

From your point stated herein, I believe that devil wants to use he complainant to harm the accused.

In developed countries, they cannot try this because the system will dig out the truth by getting the forensic experts to reveal the truth.
It is better you guys go to GRA Ikeja to get Falana to help this guy out.

My brother, this guy has been known to me since my SS1!! I can't see him raping anyone and he denies it vehemently!! We are asking for DNA tests and he is willing to be tested in anyway! Why were they so willing to destroy him via social media

Nobody condones rape! Rape is a terrible social malaise and should be roundly defeated; however, we should make room for balanced opinions and the possibility of wrong or jaundiced accusations. Justice means fairness to all concerns. May none of us be victims of framing or wrong accusation. Amen

Now that he has been convicted (and rightfully so), what says you now?
