As controversial as he may sound, i have also heard this from an American motivational speaker berfore. Veteran Nigerian celebrity Charly Boy, 64, has written a new weekly article about Nigerians who leave the development of the country in the hands of God. Charly Boy criticized Nigerians who depend on God for everything instead of working to get results.

You can read his article below;

Very recently, I was hanging out with some of my associates in my house when one of them started reeling out all that is wrong with Naija; the kind of impunity stealing that has taken place. A never ending story”, I managed to murmur, before one of them exclaimed, “Na God hand we dey”. Which kin God hand we dey? I found myself busting out a yell.

If we leave everything in God’s hand, what are we doing to change the blatant rape of the future of our youths or the obnoxious impoverishment of the masses?

For too long, we sat and watched the leadership immunize themselves with impunity, watched sycophants masturbate them with mediocrity whilst we, the people, clapped and sang for most of these riffraff for a cup of rice and beans waiting for our turn to join the chopping train. Kai!

Now that the economy is nose diving with alacrity, some still have the guts to call God’s name when we have not shown good faith in fighting to change the status quo or demand what is ours by right? Humm Mumu people. The beauty of standing up for your rights is that others will see you standing and be emboldened to stand up as well.

He is on his own.

What is success without life and good health. Although he was trying to make sense he should know that Nigerians have been working since 1914. Our fault is that we dont know how to work right.

He has a point if you look at it with an open mind. Ask me how and I will explain.

[b]Exactly Charly Boy. . . It is a sad reality that Nigerians get raped of their hard earned resources in the religious houses that are allegedly helping them.

Nigeria is overly religious with mostly a Christian and an Islam faction all over the state yet this overly religiousness and "God will do" mantra has not changed the daily woes of the masses.

Crusade houses, temples and churches are being utilized to rob the citizens who do not have enough of the little they have..

Nigerians should learn that "Manner from heaven" is a fairy-tale conjured by wishful thinking.

Help is not coming from any sky and no magical shenanigans can help you either these can only diminish your own abilities.

The problems with these delusions is that it deludes you with wishful hopes of help flying down from the sky and leaves you neglecting the effectiveness of your own abilities right in front of you..

Holy Con-Men in Suits and roman collar performing holy robbery on the poor masses and buying private jets from the sweat of these poor masses in the name of Jesus Christ our lord

while holy imams delude and brainwash the poor masses in moon hoarding mosques in the name of Muhammed our prophet.

There are no deities anywhere to help anybody if not the amount of religiosity exercised in Nigeria would have turned Nigeria to a London.

Only us can either Help or Mar ourselves, banking on wishful thinking is not really helping

Sorry dear my mind is not closed to God and open to worldly ideas only.

Most atheists would masturbate on this. Anything anti-God is brilliant for them.

smiley Honey, I believe in God and I believe he exist. I am following you because I see you create post to express your love for God. God has been kind to me and my initial post is in no way to deny him.

There is a word that says, prepare for the worse and hope for the best. It does not mean that you should wish yourself evil but trust me, it's a way to prepare your mind for the unexpected.

Now coming to God, I work like I have no God and after I am done, I pray. Psychologically, most people become complacent because they feel they have someone to fall back on for support. Atheist on the other hand are workaholics because they believe in their efforts and not someone somewhere and most of the world's greatest achievement are produced by Atheist. Check history and ask yourself why?

My understanding is that God has given us the power of FAITH, irrespective of what you worship. Just be determined and see miracles happen.

I love a quote by friend and a nairalander here, rozayx5: "it is our determination that God see and make those miracles happen"

Remember it say, if you believe and say unto this mountain...

It also says: "even if your faith is as small as mustard seed" it didn't say only those who believe in God... he said JUST BELIEVE.

Several years ago, I was applying for admission into school. Mum had just left us to the greater beyond... and my brother asked how will you get the money? I told him not to worry. At that time, I had no faint idea where the money will come from. But today, I am done with it without going to meet ANY family member. That's the faith God wants. You don't even need to pray sometimes, just BELIEVE!

I have this sick attitude of saying things I will do even before they happen, whether I have the money or not... THAT'S FAITH! JUST BELIEVE!

Wow inspiring. Sorry about your mum.
And thank God you were able to make it. smiley

About what you said, you kept on hammering on having faith but then is faith not leaning on someone superior, in this case God?

I believe in working for positive change and at the same time looking unto God for all the resources i need: Life, patience, strength, love, ideas etc Its just not right saying we should abandon the thoughts of God while working cos it wouldn't make any sense thanking God at the end since he contributed nothing! Maybe we should start thanking our efforts and brains and even fate instead of God. All glory to our supreme brains and undying efforts!!? Looooooool.

Personally i dont believe in believing in yourself because if good things happen to bad people and bad things befall good people in spite of their lifestyle and choice then it means we do not have our future in our arms, we cant control destiny but we can only try our best and do what is right hoping to get our reward.

People only say believe in yourself just to make us feel good about ourselves so we dont despair.

choi... and I had to spend hours explaining things to Speechless3.

Like I said, many are complacent because they believe God will do miracles.

Few days ago, someone said he wants to travel to south Africa for a training. I looked at him and said, where will the money come frome. Guess what he said? God will provide. No plan or anything that shows he has effort that would bring that to reality.
