Yesterday Goods and property worth several millions of naira were yesterday lost in Warri, Delta State, as the popular Mciver Market, was gutted by fire.

According to our reporter, more than 100 shops and stalls had been at blaze.

Owners of shops and stalls in the market rushed to the scene, most of them from churches, when information reached them that the market was on
fire.

In spite of the efforts of firemen, who stationed two fire engines at the scene, the fire just raged on uncontrollably.

As owners of shops arrived, there was wailing and gnashing of teeth with some of them recounting that they had suffered a similar fate every year.
