Houses of Worship For VP's Residence Cost N186m - Reps

The House of Representatives Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on Friday, February 12, expressed displeasure over the non-completion of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo’s residence among other projects in the territory despite huge allocations.

Chairman of the Committee, Herman Hembe while giving details of the committee’s oversight visit to the site of the project and other similar ones, said N96m has been use so far to erect a Mosque.

He said N86m had been used to construct a Chapel with both still uncompleted.

He lamented that the Vice President’s Gate House cost N55m to construct while the Aide de Camp, ADC’s and the Chief Security Officer, CSO’s quarters cost N288m.

“The Vice President’s residence has been paid for 88%, we are not comfortable with the projects. How can you spend N96m on a mosque that takes 12 people and you’re defending it?

“Why do you keep patronising people (Julius Berger) who keep embarrassing us? “Hembe queried.

He also wondered why N2bn would be used to erect structures for the Principal Officers of the National Assembly.

The Committee advised the FCT Administration to place priority on the territory’s rail project insisting that the N4bn earmarked for the project was little for it.

The lawmakers also expressed their unhappiness over the debt profile of the FCT. Currently, the figure stands at N100bn.

On his part, The Minister of FCT, Mohammad Bello while the defending his priority of the N37bn budget proposal said they will be guided by the committee.

he was making reference to previous year budget not this year, since it's the same party, he decides to be diplomatic which is good for him.

if they can't do away with it, then 1each for aso villa is ok, why get religious houses for every political office holder, with time, local government councillor go also propose for one in his compound.

Before, you confuse others and divert the attention of many, that contract was awarded by the past administration. Secondly, the cost of the mosque was greater than the church. So, always bring all things into perspective if you wish to educate the people.

The name of the VP should not tag in the whole saga as if he was the one that awarded the contract. In as much there are content in the inquery, Hon Hambe, should not present his self aa a saint, because we have not forgotten the shenanigan he displayed during the SEC probe involving Patricia Eteh.

Who presented the budget to the National Assembly?

Thought PMB waited for over 5 months to form a cabinet of people with unquestionable character and unparalleled competence?

As far as this budget brouhaha is concerned, PMB was sloppy, incompetent and simply naive.
