Yar’adua Leaves For G8 Summit On Wednesday by blacksta(m): 7:39am On Jul 08, 2009
President Umaru Musa YaríAdua will depart Nigeria for Italy on Wednesday to attend the G8 Summit taking place in L’Aquila at the Coppito Guardia di Finanza School between July 8 and 10. The President's advance team departed last night.
This week's meeting will be the third since President Yar'Adua was sworn in on May 29, 2007 and the first he is being invited to attend.
In the last two summits, the G-8 organisers had invited only countries which they described as "the stable and structured" emerging economies, namely China, India, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa, while Egypt was invited to represent the Arab, Muslim and Africa.
The non-invitation of Nigeria's President to the last meeting had however attracted reactions from Nigerians. Critics had viewed the development as G8 nation's way of expressing their displeasure with the dispute over the 2007 Presidential election that brought President Yar'Adua to power.
Yar'Adua had at a meeting with leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lamented the absence of Nigeria at the last G8 meeting saying he was saddened by the development.

Niaja deserve not to be there. The exclusion of naija for the past G8 summit was right. We are not a developing nations. We are declining nation so we dont have any business going there.

Re: Yar’adua Leaves For G8 Summit On Wednesday by Fhemmmy: 1:30pm On Jul 08, 2009
I guess he made the reserves list.
Maybe President on ghana is not able to make it, as well as president of Zambia, so they now told yaraslowdua of Nigeria to feel in for them.
Useless lame duck

Yar' that told Bush when he visited the US last year that being there was the "best day of his life"

You want to know what he's going to say this time? Probarbly tell Obama the it's the best thing that ever happened to him since meeting Bush! Then quickly make the most of the photo opportunity for posterity sake, before his stamina fails him and he passes out!

I doubt any of the leaders have the slighest respect for him? Even our fellow African leaders have little regard for him. He's not worthy of that office and certainly the least engaging of all the leaders we've been cursed with so far,

His going is good even if we don't gain anything from the summit. No matter how emotional we may feel about the situation in the country right now, that doesn't detract from the fact that this nation is important to the stability of sub-saharan Africa. The international community recognizes that even if we disagree. He maybe lackluster but still he's the president and if this nation is invited he'll have to go.
Re: Yar’adua Leaves For G8 Summit On Wednesday by joshO: 2:02pm On Jul 08, 2009

Not necessarily. There are more important things to occupy his time at home! Time  is now when people should be doing a cost/benefit review before embarking on these expensive and fruitless journeys that bring no long/short term benefits to our country.

It was even more fruitful in Obasanjo's years, because he seemed a lot more purposeful and courageous enough to sorrounded himself with brilliant people who commanded more respect and often accompanied him on these trips

The guy YAR A'CLUELESS  is going to attend the fringe meeting of the G-8 and will use that opportunity to achieve many things.

1. Photo opportunity with G8, possibly OBAMA and e-mail that to Attah-Mills of Ghana to say to him, I met OBAMA before you. And he will use the same photo to campaign at the next election

2. He will also use the opportunity to carry with him the highest contigent of any visiting leaders to take as much estacode as possible.

3. He will make a detour to Germany for a quick 'medical refreshment'. Don't forget that Germany is only about an hour flight from Italy.

4. He will also take a break from people coming to see him at Aso rock for solidarity visits or ASUU strike people.

'YOU CAN PUT A LIPSTICK  ON A PIG, IT IS STILL A PIG''

YAR A'DO NOTHING can fly all over the world non-stop, that does not remove his illegitimacy and daftness.

I wish he will be impeached before he gets back. There is nothing working right in this counrty anymore, virtually all the important sectors r on strike, even some senators! I wonder why he has not been impeached till now. Are we waiting for soldiers, police and market women to finally join the strike before we know that things are falling apart? angry angry angry

Re: Yar’adua Leaves For G8 Summit On Wednesday by Beaf: 6:04pm On Jul 08, 2009
Shame on negative people. Even if the country is corrupt, shouldn't we accept the much we have attained. Shame, its people like you guys that make some 9ja kids over here ashamed to answer their traditional names. Shame on you.
Re: Yar’adua Leaves For G8 Summit On Wednesday by Beaf: 6:07pm On Jul 08, 2009
When they ask the negative people here to "answer their papa name" and be present at times like below; thats when you start hearing stories about "am too young", "my mama no too well", "na me go dey front?"
Yet you want to sell your country cheap. Shame.

Cowards.
