Top 5 Most Confusing Buhari Statements: Warning You Might Get Confused by chandli: 12:41pm On Feb 20, 2016
When we heard the words “I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody” Nigerians were excited. For the first time in our history we had found an intellectual President. One that could wax lyrical wisdom off his lips seamlessly.

But that seemed like ages ago because its been one confusing quote after the other … from the “West Germany” debacle to “Nigerians are criminals” fiasco that almost shutdown twitter.

So out of joblessness the staff at ofilispeaks.com decided to compile the list of their “5 Most confusing Buhari Statements”

WARNING: You might feel confused after read this!

#1 The Noise Makers
“The ministers are there, I think, to make a lot of noise; for the politicians to make a lot of noise. But the work is being done by the technocrats.” – France (September 16, 2015: Interview with France 24 tv)

After waiting eagerly for over 5 months for a list of Ministers that would change Nigeria … Nigerians were hit by a bombshell all the way from France when Buhari stated that Minister’s were just a bunch of Noisemakers leaving Nigerians like …

#2 I Think This Is Really Fair
“(Going by election results), constituencies that gave me 97% cannot in all honesty be treated, on some issues, with constituencies that gave me 5%. I think these are political realities … I think this is really fair.” – USA (July 22nd: United Stated institute of Peace)

Just a few months after winning what would go down as the Freest and Fairest election to date, Buhari dropped a confusing collage of answers above that had interviewer Dr.Baker looking like …

#3 Did He Say French Fries?
“I need to be convinced. If you devalue the naira, against what – dollar, sterling, yen, French Franc?” – Nigeria (December 30, 2015: Presidential Media Chat)

Forget the fact that Buhari still needs to be convinced about Naira devaluation in 2016 (breaking news Naira is trading N400 to $1). Most Nigerians were left looking at their watches/clocks checking the date when Buhari hit us with “French Francs” in the cold winter harmattan of 2015!

#4 President Michelle Obama Of Germany
“… from President Obama to the Chairman of G7 President Michelle of West Germany and french President. They are all willing to help us.” – June 12 2015 (Germany G7 summit)

President Michelle? West Germany? This quote had Nigerians rubbing their head and Michella Obama checking her swag …

#5 Nigerians are Criminals
“Some Nigerians claim is that life is too difficult back home, but then again some Nigerians have also made it difficult for Europeans and Americans to accept them because of the number of Nigerians in different prisons all over the world accused of drug trafficking or human trafficking. I don’t think Nigerians have anybody to blame.” – UK Telegraph Interview (February 8th 2016)

After our President uttered that statement, Nigerians in the diaspora and those hoping to make it to the diaspora could not look any foreigner in the eye.

#6 BONUS: Technically We Have Won
“So I think technically we have won the war because people are going back into their neighborhoods. Boko Haram as an organised fighting force, I assure you, that we have dealt with them.” BBC (December 24th)

Technically Christmas came early for Nigerians when we found out that Boko Haram had been defeated … well “technically.” After making an ill-advised promise to eradicate Boko Haram by December, and Boko Haram still dropping bombs in December. Buhari decided to drop his own bomb when he said Boko Haram had been defeated. Well technically …

# Conclusion
Jokes aside … the fact is this.

Buhari during elections is different from Buhari after elections. It is clear that there is a different media team managing him now and it appears they are doing a very bad job as most of his comments/statements are leaving Nigerians totally confused. The administration needs to find a way to get their messaging back on track.

It won’t be easy, but it is very doable.
