Somebody wrote this and I thought it worth sharing:

Mr David Ahmed Okoro started the day early, having set his alarm clock (MADE IN FINLAND) for 6am. While his teapot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his clipper (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on his shirt (MADE IN THE UK), and designer jeans (MADE IN ITALY) and shoes (MADE IN THE USA).

After cooking his breakfast in his new electric cooker (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his wristwatch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to his radio (MADE IN VIETNAM) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) filled with petrol imported from (SAUDI ARABIA) and continued his search for a good paying NIGERIAN job...

At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his computer (MADE IN MALAYSIA), Mr David Ahmed Okoro decided to relax for a while. He put on his slippers (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN SOUTH AFRICA), while fiddling with his mobile phone (MADE IN SOUTH KOREA), and then wondered why he cant find a good paying job in... NIGERIA.

He felt achy and sore in his left kneel, he decided to take one tablet of his TRAMADOL TABLETS (MADE IN BANGLADESH) to relieve the pain. Lying down on his bed and wondering why NIGERIAN External Foreign Reserve has depleted to under $ 28billion which has translated to free fall depreciation of Nigerian NAIRA to US DOLLAR at PARALLEL MARKET.......

Fellow Nigerians, let's us start producing, let us start buying made in NIGERIA goods If our economy is to grow and create better jobs.

How can a country like Nigeria be importing toothpick, cutting bud, cotton wool, matches, rubber band e.t.c? And we complain at d same time that there is no jobs for our teeming youths?

The situation is even pathetic now when you see Nigerians ( in Lagos) prefer Cotonou garri to that of Ijebu, buy cotonou pineapple and they say it is better than that of Nigeria. That is why frozen foods will be exported to Cotonou from farms like that of obasanjo repacked and imported back to Nigeria because they know Nigerians always prefer made in outside Nigeria goods .
That is why you will see an expatriate renumeration will be juicy than that of his Nigeria counterpart even if that Nigerian is more certificated than d expatriate ( This also happen in government parastatals).

Any nation that import majorly foreign made goods/ services rather than producing their own are hurting its people....

When we keep importing foreign made products into Nigeria, we keep importing poverty into our country and exporting jobs abroad...

Let's go back to the land to grow and patronise MADE IN NIGERIA products...

PLEASE SHARE FREELY TO ENLIGHTEN ALL NIGERIANS. #copied

We should be telling ourselves the truth. There is little or no options left for the man in the article.

How do you feel when govt through her various agencies are aiding importation much more than producing at home?

When they will decide to 'kill' the local market so that their company, friends or allies can make more profit importing and then be able to pay the agreed 'percentage'.

When govt decides to give tax holidays to importers than producers.

When importation is cheaper than locally produced.

When there is no power supply to run machines and where you dare tap wire from pole to your factory, you are made to pay for such 'arrogance'. E.g. A friend who has a computer business center with 6computers and one photocopy machine is given a bill of N17k when average power supply is not equal 300hrs for the month.

[b]The efforts of Nigerian government to recover the looted fund without the full supports of Nigerian would not make the task easy for the government, to recover the looted fund, we are hearing that the looters will fight back the nation and they were doing so without hide! it's samefull to this nation that a few elements with their evil acts and their colaborators hold down the 170 million nigerian in sufferance at the watch of themselves without any reactions isn't this a shame to the nation? If $1 trillion is unaccounted for and we are looking elsewhere for an angel to come and fix our economy for us without taken the looters responsible, it's a shame to this nation, if we still depend on the aid of western world , Usa, Asia gulf state for our own survival while harbouring the looters who looted us to bone without challenge, then it's a shame to the nation! if the Europian looted their treasory can they have the money to fix their economy talkless of helping others. if a party which formed for the service of the people openly support and protected the looters it is a shame, enough is enough for the office holders and publics sevants who looting nigeria treasory. NLFRC is now at watch of you looters and a drastic action will be taken against any looters!
here is some of the action taken so far:
Letter to the UN
Letter to the EU
Letter to the world bank and monetary institutions
Letter to the AU
Letter to the ECOWAS
Letter to the nations: Swis, Gb, Usa, Germany, Asian nation, Gulf states etc
we let's these international communities known that we need their full support on how to help nigerian government recover every kobo looted in nigeia and placed in their countries, no more hide out for the looters any longer, they either return the looted fund at their disposure or return it, no other options, they may try to play god or take is as joke all for their peril!

(1) INDEPENDENCE OF STATES ON FG
-Each state should set up large hectares of lands for agriculture. Each should cultivate crops adaptable to their climate and weather eg cocoa to the west, onions and groundnut to the north, cassava and palm kernel to the east etc.
-By setting up huge farms, the problem of unemployment to an extent will be reduced by employing jobless youths.
-Each state should also set up a unique industry capable of transforming resources within them into wealth eg kaduna state could set up textile industries that can use cultivated cotton found within its reach and transforming to marketable finished products.
-States should also go into mining the vast mineral resources abandoned by previous governments and converting them to incomes for the states.

(2) MORE INVESTMENT INTO RENEWABLE ENERGY
-More investments should be made in renewable energy by building more dams. The Kainji dam has been a consistent supplier of about 800MW of power on a daily basis. If more dams of the same or greater power capacity can be constructed in areas near the ocean or water like Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers etc, the power sector will improve dramatically. The advantages of dams to gas plants in use nowadys is its consistency and reliability. Gas plants rely heavily on gas supply from pipelines, which over the years have been consistently vandalized. If funds used by previous administrations to set up these disappointing gas plants were invested in more dams, the power situation would have been more positive.

(3) MAKE GOVT POSITIONS LESS ATTRACTIVE
-The constitution should be amended in a way that government officials don't have a direct access to state treasury. By doing this, people going into politics to get rich will be greatly discouraged.
-The salaries and entitlements of legislators should be drastically reduced in line with the minimum wages of nigerians. At present their salaries are 275 times higher than the minimum wage.

(4) INVESTMENTS IN REFINERIES
More refineries should be setup, if possible each state having at least one. This will reduce the power of the cabals and oil marketers who have over the years caused nigerians unbearable hardships.

(5) FESTIVALS TO PROMOTE ETHNIC EQUALITY
On a yearly basis, festivals that promote togetherness and equality of the different ethnic groups should be setup. By doing so, the problem of secession and rebellious activities will be minimized.

There is little we can do, even if you tax all the imported goods we will still buy because there is practically no alternative.

The less than 5% produced goods in Nigeria are quite expensive and mostly non standardized.

The government has a lot to do in creating the enabling environment - good roads and efficient electricity supply.

as much as I don't want to conclude Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) is inefficient. the body is not encouraging.

The only way out of this is to go to Aba, Onitsha and Nnewi support them financially and provide power supply, watch them start manufacturing tvs, phones, AC, laptops, I mean anything imaginable ...they can do. Some electronics we use are actually cloned or assembled in Nnewi. But our envy and wicked minds won't allow us to do this nor allow the so called One fictitious Nigeria to succeed.
