For those fortunate to be American citizens, one is aware of the patriotism and loyalty expected from them by the government. The war in Iraq, while unjustified, is still going on strong with casualties on both ends. Yet, our president is bent on finishing the course till the end of his tenure. As of now, there may be a clarion call, a draft for all citizens between a certain age to join the war. If you were an opposer of the war and you were about to be drafted, what would be your reaction? Knowing that your refusal may result in your termination of your American citizenship, would you gladly stay true to your ideals by renouncing your citizenship and move back home (Canada is another destination, though for celebrities ) or would you meekly abandon your stand on the war and cave to the US demands?

The president has maintained there will be no draft. That said, as a citizen you ought to go out and vote for democrats this Tuesday. If they became the majority in both House and Senate, the googler-in-chief and his cohorts will have lots of questions to answer. Who has heard about selective service system which automatically registers Males from 18-27 or thereabout( Citizens and permanent residents-Green card Holders).so its not only American Citizens.I dont think there can be a draft! afterall there are enuff college students in the Reserves, national Guards . The last draft we had was at Vietnam around 1968, so NO SHAKING!

Funny thing is, you can never run away from uncle sam. I heard registering with selective service is one of the criteria they consider before giving you Pell grant. That is, if you don't sign away your life to defend the country, no education for you.

@Ynot.For real men, NO selective service! No Pell grant for you! I remember when i started college,after i got my pell grant,the next week i found a selective service registration mail in my Mail,Imagine they even registered me without my Knowledge (Bloody capitalists,no free lunch in America!).

In my state of halitosis,i called 'em selective service immediately and a conversation ensued

Here will go again - another right wing Page molester. Its not about fighting for the country but the invasion of Iraq by GOP war machine. Many people including yours truly don't mind going after Osama in Afghanistan (reason: he claimed responsible for 11/9) but the war in Iraq is not only unnecessary but illegal.
