The First Rain In Nigeria 2016 by Flowrymz(m): 7:48am On Mar 01, 2016
It was exactly 6:43pm in Owerri, Nigeria. With all manner of concentration, I was meticulously perusing a novel entitled #faceless by Amma Darko in the chill of the day. It all started like an interesting dream, everything happened so suddenly like it was the end of time. I gradually lost concentration due to the fact that the countenance of the atmosphere changed. I heard the innocent Voice of a female prepuberscent from a distance saying "I know why it wants to rain, it is because tomorrow is the first day of march".
Open and ajar doors started banging themselves owing to the wailing wind which heralded the unexpected. People here and there spontaneously shut their windows because the heralder accompanied by dust was gradually increasing in might. As usual, the power goes off so as to give a grand welcome to the rain and also help to prevent any electrical damage, accident or surges.
The trees and all vegetation danced at this wonderful spectacle, praising, singing and thanking the heavens for the cornucopious drink she was about to supply.
It finally came, the long expected rain. It washed off the surfaces of the roofs of every standing edifice which was formerly coated with the monstrous Harmattan dust. The first down pours from the roofs were brown because of the dust. I could hear the gutters murmur but the words they did weren't audible. I could also see people running to find shelter to avoid been taken by the rain.
It was obvious that this brought to an end, the sizzling hot miasma and welcomed what we call "at room temperature" which is far more manageable.

Welcome to the rainy season
God bless Nigeria....
