x The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Action Congress (AC) are responsible for the current the threat by the House of Representatives to impeach President Yar’Adua. The House of Representatives has threatened to begin impeachment proceeding against the President over the partial implementation of the 2009 Appropriation Act. President Yar'Adua had told the Nationaly Assembly that the government was having difficulty implementing the budget as passed because of the lower revenues due to the global economic meltdown. But the Assembly insist that the budget is already an Act of Parliament after he had assented to it and advised the President to go to court if he could not implement it as passed. The PDP National Publicity Secretary called the threat “mere speculation and a huge joke by AC and ANPP whose members have refused to rise above their partisanship nature”. “As far as the PDP is concerned, there is a cordial relationship between the National Assembly and the President, which has been built over a long time based on mutual respect and collective responsibility,” http://www.ngex.com/news/public/newsinfo.php?nid=8347 |
