Well, we have nations like the USA. All immigrants, people from over 120 countries came together to make a super power out of a vast wilderness.

What did the immigrants have that hausa, ibo and yoruba do not ?

I myself I'm American born and raised ,although my background is Oron and I lived in calabar and Oron for about 4 years . I've visited about 34 countries and I have basic understanding of Spanish ,French and Swedish,Oron,Efik . My iewpoint is based on my personal experience and outlook.
the difference between Nigeria and the United states ,Canada,Australia new Zealand is the fact that Nigeria is an ethnic nation. In the United states ,a Californian or Oregonian can contest for election in Florida or Colorado. there's no sense of roots here. if my child is born and raised in Portland Oregon or Dallas Texas,he or she simply adopts that place as their origin. So therefore,if you are from Illinois,it doesn't matter if you are white or black or Latino or chinese ,you and Barrack Obama have something in common because you are both from Illinois in this regard.

The reason we can't do like the Americans are a mixture of prejudice, distrust and pathological sense of entitlement by a particular tribe.

There is nothing but truth in all you have said OP.. I'd advice you change the title to something like 'why Nigeria will always be retrogressive' and change the strong language! You have said the absolute, undiluted truth!! I dont understand how you can expect people to keep two different identities?! That's messing with their heads really! You want me to be a 'complete' Yoruba man that i am as well as completely be Nigerian!! I'v not seen a developed nation with this kind of structure....None!!!

Nigeria will always be a third world shiithole .For example, Mr Akpabio of akwa ibom embezzled over $14 billion dollars ,and yet he is worshipped by nigerians as the best thing since slice bread. Infact you might be vilified for daring to expose the truth -How dare you - dont you know he is my brother and we belong to the same political party and he is the best thing since slice bread? ,All the meaningless and unsustainable white elephant projects he executed amounts to just $700 million or 5 % of the accrued funds, and has has absolutely no impact on the welfare of the subjects. The akwa ibom is one of the most poverty stricken states. Where's the 14 billion dollars? it's in secret underground bunkers.
Where's the justice?where's the alleged fight against the corruption if such an individual is not only allowed to walk free but holds the seat of senator in an obviously deadly and fraudulent election. Where's accountability? where's justice? All of these are symptoms of a failed third world nation. The judges and crime investigators themselves are incredibly corrupt. what a hopeless nation. These and many more reasons are why Nigeria will always be a third world shiithole.Take it or leave it .

Nigeria will rise again..but first there will be thermonuclear war...that's it !

Dude,.i understand your patriotism and belief in the project 'Nigeria' but for this project to ever move forward, basic structures have to be readjusted.. else, cases of sabotage, selfishness, ethnic clashes will never go away! Without citizen's commitment to the development of a nation, no greatness can be achieved! There are several nations in this country and until.they are given a form of independent autonomy, i don't foresee a tangible progress really!!

Try Regional autonomy today and watch different regions try everything to outdo each other,.healthy competition leads to development of seperate regions and thereby leading to overall development of the entire nation! I don't know why we'v not really talked about this until now!!

I am glad people are beginning to wake up. This dead slogan called 'One Nigeria' is a sham and scam. This is what Nnamdi Kanu has been on about. Nigeria is not real and that us why there is no patriotism. The Yoruba for instance, will gladly betray and destroy one not of his tribe and so it goes around to all others. Now such evil has spread even among ethnic brothers.

The beauty of any communion or gathering is knowing that there is unity of purpose and within same, each person is acknowledged and respected in his own right and everyone can rest assured that he is guaranteed his full rights and entitlements no matter whether some others are bigger or not. No one here is regarded as minority or inferior to others.
Furthermore, in such gathering everyone works and contributes towards their common goal rather than one person bring bled endlessly and his resources forcefully collected and shared to others. This dangerouspractice leads to a sense of entitlement and comfort, never mind laziness and non innovativeness that will lead others to fight and oppress that one who supplies their need rather than look inwards to solve their problems. Still it is never enough because the satisfaction that grows from working for and feeding oneself is not there!

Until this balance is achieved there will be no real development and not everyone is interested in waiting for some elusive miracle. That is why Biafra has upped the ante to seek self determination. Each distinct group should call for same and we will all be better off. We will fave healthy respect for others in the safety of our distinct identities.

I hae only recently come to understand the ethnic structure of Nigeria. nOW i know that Igbo is just a group of a linguistic neighbors just like Oron,Efik, ibnio and annag make up an unnamed group which is often known as akwacross. Now in the Akwa cross itself there still exist numerous scores to settle . Can you help me understand the igbo structure?
how many tribes are there in the igbo group?which is the majority tribe in the igbo group, etc. whose language is the lingua franca of the entire igbo?

The Igbo ethnic group if u like, is one. There are only dialectical nuances but by and large, it is one language which Igbos speak despite some variations and it is one tribe with no majority or minority. Naturally, we have similar cultures across Igboland so an Onitsha man already knows what is obtainable in Umuahia at least 60-70%. Any other unique attributes he can easily assimilate because it is not alien to him.

If an Asaba, Etche or Ikwerre man speaks, I understand even if I'm from Anambra. This is because these boundaries hav been crated for political and administrative purposes. It is one mass of Igboland where we share common beliefs, culture and religion.

Now you have mentioned few tribes within igbo group. What other tribes are there in the igbo group? And which is the most populous ? Ngwa,Arochuwku,Mbaise,Etche,Ikwerre, etc.
Is the relationship between the igbo tribes similar to the relationship between Oron,Efik,Ibibo and anang ? although based on my personal analogy and juxtaposition ,I feel that these are different nations ,though linguistic neighbours similar to others that i've observed else where like (Nordic = Norway,Denmark,Sweden,Finland) (North Korea,South Korea,Taiwan) . The tribes within those groups are autonomous nations due to larger landmasses . I feel that the reason why the Nigerian linguistic neighbours like the Ibibio anang Oron and efik should remain as a single entity is simply due to smaller landmass, not necessarily because they are the same nations . If the Nordic group had a smaller land mass, then I would also recommend a single Nordic republic.

Those areas mentioned are only names of places and not tribes. They are identified as originating from the Igbo tribe. Arochkwu is a place in Igboland. These are cities or villages as the case may be. There has never been an issue as to who is more populous so to the best of my knowledge, no effort has been expended to identify a village with more people all within Igboland.

Igbos naturally identify by language and culture like I said earlier. There is no dominant 'tribe' or group because it is one Igbo identity.

Are the dialectical variations of the igbo group similar to the variations of the akwa cross group? Is there a sort of general or synthetic igbo language . If so,Could it be the that the akwacross group are the most disorganized without a synthetic language and general name except the one given to them by others which is simply known as "calabar" ?

I cannot begin to speak of Akwa/Cross people because I don't know much about their culture. I can only say that there are dialectical nuances or differences in Igbo language but I cannot generate a comparison to Akwa/Cross.
Igboland embraces and is founded ob an organic union. That is why the general language spoken is understood by those from the area. There are few with some differences that are fairly difficult to understand at initial contact like that spoken by the Nsukka and Abiriba people. Still, the languages, culture and identifying features are practically same as obtainable in Igbo land.

In the situation like this in my own view the remedy should be apc should see itself as the ruling party and should govern with all the seriousness and sincerity that it needed.

Presently apc government is just nah wash (obviously not up to the task).

The way apc governs, they can never and never become great leaders. Never.
