Using this technique will probably lead us to a number of islamic propaganda websites. It's a known fact that saudi arabia spends a lot of their cheap oil money on islamic propaganda and they make dubious claims about islam's 'contribution' to science.
these men ain't even saudis and some ain't sunni muslims...lol...funny dude

From my position and non muslim, I feel that the passage encourages the muslim not to probe nor research but take everything HOOK, LINE AND SINKER....thats my own interpretation....

Just talking

ari3l:
Not insulting islam here but I have a question I want to ask.

Quran 5:101 says : O you who believe! Ask not about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble....

I have a question I would ask, why would allah ask you not to ask questions about your religion? Shows there isn't freedom of speech in your religion. And you now see that the level of confusion is strictly based on your Quran. You dare not do stupíd shít with a christian who would always ask you questions. He's not gonna tell you the truth, he will expose you the next minute if he was a christian.

I always ask questions where ever I go. So I'm asking what do muslims have to say here.

@ ari3l

It is good that I tell you first and foremost where I SINCERELY stand.

I stand for a one standard judgement which is 'TRUTH'. I don't know how to MANIPULATE peoples mind nor encourage such art of deceiving people into believing a CONJECTURE.

It doesn't make me feel good nor does it make our world any better.

"Just because something isn't a LIE does not mean that it isn't DECEPTIVE. A liar knows that he (she) is a LIAR, but one who speaks mere portions of TRUTH in order to DECEIVE is a CRAFTMAN OF DESTRUCTION" Criss Jami

@ari3l did you not quote just a portion of the verse and then ignore the whole TRUTH. Was it delibrate?

I am not on this social network to defend Muslims, Christains .........feminist e.t.c

I choose to be an Explorer of thoughts and not a Wanderer in confusion. Weren't we all born into this world without having known anything but being infused with certain NARRATIVES and BELIEFS while helpless a little child with no choice?

Hence, is it WISE to hold firm to beliefs which one by himself or herself did not discover through CONVICTION by our personal exploration of alternatives.

i mean holding firmly to what we found our parents practicing. Basing once FAITH on ties of relationship because my parents are Atheist, Budist, Muslims, Christains rather than on DISCOVERY, CONFIRMATION AND CONVICTION and EVIDENCES is having no faith at all but SENTIMENTS.

Hence, i am a SINCERE TRUTH SEEKER and i am not into RIVALRY of ideaology nor the sport called ARGUMENT. All i care about is the 'TRUTH'. And I am here for ENLIGHTENMENT and a RESPECTFUL DISCUSSION. I assume you are a Christain. I will enjoy a morally upright discussion so that we can arrive at a reasonably conclusion to answering your question.

So, @ ari3l,

Is it UNDERSTANDING you seek for and that is why you have asked this your question?

Well, from your writting it seems that all that you want to show is that there isn't freedom of speech in Islam.

Secondly, to tell that the level of confussion of Muslims is STRICTLY based on the Quran.

WELL THESE TWO CHARGES ARE FALSE.

I have a Quran with detailed commentary and have been studying it METICULOUSLY. Case by case. Seeking for what is 'PLAIN' and not 'AMBIGUITY. Even the biography of Prophet Muhammad too and so many other literatures that criticize Islam and i have also been consulting Islamic scholars. ALL WITH A PLAIN MIND THAT IS NOT SUBJECTIVE BUT OBJECTIVE.

So, when i saw the verse which you quoted and inorder to increase in knowledge. I quickly went to the Quran to check.

I WAS SO ASTONISHED TO FIND OUT THAT YOU DIDNT QUOTE THE WHOLE OF THE VERSE TO THE END WHICH BY ITSELF ALREADY ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION.

I am no more than someone who defends the 'TRUTH'. No matter the source. As long as its the TRUTH i will always STATE IT.

So, the TRUTH is that you have quoted that verse half way,

"MERE PORTION OF TRUTH IN ORDER TO DECEIVE IS A CRAFTMANSHIP OF DESTRUCTION" reminding you of an earlier quote.

So am speaking on behalf of TRUTH and not the Muslims.

Hence, you quoted .

"O ye who believe! Ask not questions about things which if made plain to you, may cause you trouble........"

AS IF IT IS AN EXCLUSIVITY, COMMANDING BELIEVERS IN ISLAM NOT TO ASK QUESTIONS.

But the same verse continues as thus, which you didn't quote:

"BUT IF YE ASK ABOUT THINGS WHEN THE QURAN IS BEING REVEALED, THEY WILL BE MADE PLAIN TO YOU, ALLAH WILL FORGIVE THOSE: FOR ALLAH IS OFT- FORGIVING, MOST FORBEARING" Quran 5:104.

THE VERSE HAS ANSWERED ITSELF.

It did not say EXCLUSIVELY not to ask questions but related answering this questions as the Quran is gradually being revealed.

The Quran was revealed in stages and mostly for anwering quetions.

IF TRUELY YOU ARE SINCERE AND BEING JUST AND INTERESTED IN PEACE YOU CAN'T SAY OTHERWISE.

the continuation of the verse states "BUT IF"

"I always ask questions where ever I go. So, I'm asking what do muslims have to say here" quoting you.

The Quran responds as thus:

"AND NO QUESTION DO THEY BRING TO THEE BUT WE REVEAL TO THEE THE TRUTH AND THE BEST EXPLANATION (thereof) Quran 25 : 33

Await Qurans best Explanation from what i have SINCERELY LEARNT if it is understanding that you seek and not ideological rivalry which is totally IMMATURE AND UNHEALTHY for the development of humanity.

For now, I have only drawn your attention to what you have done which my Atheist mentor Eric Hoffer taught me. In his words, he said about what you just did.

"Right now it seems that they who have a truth to reveal also have a lie to hide".

I WILL BE EXPLAINING DETAILFULLY VERY VERY SOON. I WANT TO FURTHER PERCEIVE FIRSTLY YOUR MIND FRAME WITH WHAT EVER YOUR RESPONSE MIGHT BE.

There is no point wasting time with people who are not ready to live and let others live.

Thank you.

So we can continue from here. As i said my initial
examaination is your mind frame. Now that you have given me an insight of what is in it. Obviously i can now continue with further answering your question.

A very simple question that has already answered itself.

Its a forum and on the net. The world can access it.So it ll be
profitable to those who care for UNDERSTANDING.

Kindly be patient with me. And also i have always known that its typical of a religious mind to respond as you just did. Its a trait but not of RIGHTEOUSNESS.

When you were Quoting a part of a verse to suit your
misinterpretation what were you thinking?

THAT YOU ARE BEING TRUTHFUL? DID YOU SAY I CALLED YOU A LIAR? JUDGE YOURSELF.

Allaah has pardoned it [i.e. that which is past]; and Allaah is Forgiving and Forbearing. A people asked such [questions] before you; then they became thereby disbelievers.} [Quran 5:101-102]
This verse prohibits the Muslims from asking about things they have no benefit in asking about, because if such matters appear to them it may be harmful to them and it will be difficult for them to hear it, like the person who asked the Prophet : ‘‘Where is my father (in the Hereafter)? The Prophet replied: ‘‘In Hellfire.’’, or the person who asked about Hajj: ‘‘Is it every year, o Prophet of Allaah?’’, whereupon the Prophet replied: ‘‘No, and if I replied by ‘yes’, it would become an obligation on you to perform it every year and you will not be able to do so .’’
These examples are reported about the reasons for which the verse was revealed, and similar to this are the questions asked just in order to mock the person or to ask rigid questions without any benefit.
To conclude, this verse was revealed because of asking about things that have no benefit, or because of asking too much, or asking in order to mock, or test someone or to argue with him only for the sake of argument.
As regards asking the scholars about the matters of religion or asking people of experience about beneficial things in this worldly life, then this is not included in the probation of asking.
Allaah Knows best.

YOU HAVE BEEN VERY ABUSIVE IS THAT MORALITY? IS SUCH GOING TO BE FOUND ADMIRABLE IN ATTRACTING FOLLOWERSSHIP?

Religiousity has always being "DO AS I SAY AND NOT AS I DO"

The major reason why the world has always being bleeding at our feet is because of the religious minds.

VERY UNFORTUNATE THAT THE WORLD IS DISEASED BY SUCH A PLAQUE.

Religiousity is not the same as Righteousness and your trying to deceive people by quote a part of a verse that in its context and fullness answers your question itself is no more than trying to misled people who are ignorant of the Quran.

And what do you stand to gain.

Why dont you enlighten people about the virtues of what ever it is that is your belief instead of WANDERING IN YOUR DELIBRATE CONJECTURE.

Why would allah speak to his messenger to talk to his followers and when his messenger seek knowledge being an all knowing father of the Muslims, he beseech them not to ask. I don't see why secrets should be in a religion. Don't you think so? Else the bible would be hidden from us and we would even do worse things than now.

Allah is suppose to be open to his children not saying that his children shouldn't worry and if they do it would be shown plain. If I tell you that all is well when all isn't, and u find out that all isn't well would you ever listen to me again? Be honest.

These are questions I ask and I want to find answers to. Why would your Allah say some things should be kept secret?
My bible says seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened, why is it different in your Quran?

DO NOT QUESTION WHAT IS CLEAR TO YOU BECAUSE IT WILL LEAD YOU ASTRAY.

for example jesus, Jesus never say he's god but u call him god despite the fact that it's clear that he's not god

Also is the issue of son of god, son of god plenty yapa in Bible but u say he's Born by god.

That's why una lost.

This verse prohibits the Muslims from asking about things they have no benefit in asking about, because if such matters appear to them it may be harmful to them and it will be difficult for them to hear it, like the person who asked the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ): ‘‘Where is my father (in the Hereafter)? The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) replied: ‘‘In Hellfire.’’, or the person who asked about Hajj: ‘‘Is it every year, o Prophet of Allaah?’’, whereupon the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) replied: ‘‘No, and if I replied by ‘yes’, it would become an obligation on you to perform it every year and you will not be able to do so .’’

Then answer the question like someone who hasn't run out of his mind. Which one u day, I asked a question, and I said "we need answers" na insult I insult you for there, define abusive here.

Stating my terms clearly to you again. 'RELIGIOUS MIND' are mostly very rigid because of INDOCTRINATION.

I hope you will in the end be exceptional.

RELIGIOUS MUSLIMS, CHRISTIANS, ATHEIST, DEMOCRATS,.............FEMINISTS e.t.c mostly carry a blocked mind but full of double standard.

Always defending EVEN wrong doings if perpetuated by them. A confliction against JUSTICE that is supposely a corner stone of the DOCTRINES of all these religions.

The world system is run anyway on no more than DOUBLE STANDARD.

Hence, we are mostly HYPOCRITES.

Well, for all I care the human faculty of reasoning is not meant to be blocked by DOGMA but meant to process new information and making good, wise judgements about perceptions.

"Hence, I am a sincere TRUTH seeker and not into RIVALRY OF IDEALOGY nor the sport called ARGUMENT. All I care about is the 'TRUTH'".

I just quoted myself again as a reminder so that you don't repeat the same mistake as you have written your thoughts in words thinking its an argument about who wins or who loses when you said "SO TO YOU, YOU WON AN ARGUMENT"

Its no more than a discussion aimed at a reasonable conclusion.

If TRUELY it is answers that you seek.

I for one do not take pleasure in the sport called ARGUMENT and no TRUTH SEEKER does. What we enjoy doing is DECONSTRUCTING a concept and looking at it from all sides stating the TRUTH of what it is by SINCERE EXAMINATION for the sake of LOGIC, JUSTICE, RATIONALITY and SOLUTION.

"Why would Allah ask you not to question about your religion?" ari3l

That was your curiosity which was based on a faulty premise because you didn't quote the whole verse but a part and making it seem as if its all in all.

"O ye who BELIEVE! Ask not questions about things which if made plain to you may cause you TROUBLE......."

That is like giving a limitation to INQUISITIVITY.............which things are these that may cause YOU trouble when asked.

Or, what will be the conclusion of anyone who reads that alone without reading the whole of it?

But the continuation of the verse stated that the BELIEVERS in Islam of course, to whom the verse was being addressed to directly and specially are not being restricted to asking INFACT any questions at all.

The verse continues with:

"But if ye ASK about things when the Quran is being revealed they will be made plain to you"

Which answers your question by itself. That it does not say questions should not be asked by the BELIEVERS about Islam at all.

And as regards freedom of speech that is a whole different topic likewise the confusion of mostly today's Muslim.

In truth the world is such a confussion and i dont not deny the fact that Muslims of today as so CONFUSE. What is a fallacy is that their confussion has its root in the Quran.

Muslims mostly do not obey the Quran in todays world the emulate ideologies other than the instructions given by the Quran.

Their disobedience to the Quran is infact the root of their confussion.

So, what is ISLAM all about anyway. Is it not the about what is being revealed which translates to the religion. Which "but if ye ask questions about things when the Quran is being revealed (ISLAM) they will be made plain to you"

So, whatever QUESTION infact anyone is interested in asking should be within the context of what has been revealed. REVEALATION has come to an end. That is what it is saying.

Hence, the Quran is so open to questioning. Which the Quran also states clearly:

"AND NO QUESTION DO THEY BRING TO THEE BUT WE HAVE REVEAL TO THEE THE TRUTH AND THE BEST EXPLANATION (thereof). Quran 25: 33.

And so, The same verse which you quoted as your premise ends with "Allah will forgive those: For Allah is oft-forgiving most forbearing"

So, even if a BELIEVER due to his or her HONEST CURIOSITY should ask a question that if made plain may cause him or her trouble, Allah says He is oft-forgiving most forebearing" to such a BELIEVER.

So, it doesn't restrict QUESTIONS to be asked by the adherent of Islam but the INTENTION with which the question is being asked is all that matters.

For example,

The respose which Mose whom Muslims call Anabi Musa, a believer in ONE GOD, as acclaimed in the TEN COMMANDMENT. A prophet and a messenger of God and to whom God spoke, did not get the same treatment as like the childern of Israel.

They asked the same Questions which if made plain may cause them trouble.

Mose asked if he could see God likewise the children of Israel asked the same.

These are the kind of question being ADVICE TO REFRAIN from so that on such an account you don't end up losing your faith.

"Some people before you did asked such questions, and on that account lost their faith" Quran 5: 102

Refering to every thoughtless questions. So Islam doesnt encourage thoughtlessness which the ILLUSION called freedom of speech promotes.

Mose didn't eventually lose his faith in God but the Children of Israel did. They kept asking silly questions to the point of losing their faith.

So, what ever your intention for asking this question ari3l may GOD ALMIGHTY pay you back in full measure.

Its really about not asking SILLY questions with dubious intentions. That is what the whole verse is about.

The verse is SPECIALLY addressed to the believers because they are not expected to be asking the same kind of questions like those who do not believe.

THE QURAN IS 100% OPEN TO QUESTIONING AND HAS READY MADE ANSWERS WITHIN IT. YOUR QUESTION MUST BE ABOUT WHAT HAS BEEN REVEALED.

I couldnt have read a book on farming and expect to question the authour about astronomy.

That is being thoughtless.

The judgement is that, that particular verse is addressed to believers who are expected to be thoughtful.

Its as simple as that.

Thank you.

The matter serious o. So if I ask questions, it's not suppose to be so, but if I still decide to know your Allah will make it plain, and forgive me...

I don't understand o,why would there be forgiveness when I decide to seek knowledge? Isn't it my civic right to know things I do not know?

Firstly, i must THANK YOU for your humility. Secondly i will by God's will expanciated on the bolded. Thirdly you can go back to my first submission and read carefully. ALL THAT I CARE ABOUT IS STATING THE TRUTH BY DISCOVERY, CONVICTION, CONFIRMATION and i am not here to defending no ideaology or those who practice them but STATING the truth in a form of description through discussion.

I will get back to you. Thank you for being kind with your words this time around.

All we need is UNDERSTANDING and not ARGUEMENTS to save the world from HER CHAOTIC CONFUSSION..
