Ekaladerhan was the son of ogiso (king of the sky in benin), king and ruler of benin kingdom, who left benin upon scuffle for the throne with his uncle, went west with his followers. He found succour in the west, and took on the name Izoduwa (I walked into the way of prosperity).

Eko (meaning camp in benin) was conquered by bini kingdom in the era of Oba Ewuare the great, as was other neighbouring places. Ewuare took on the quest of expanding the kingdom, as any ambitious ruler would do, and took control of those conquered places until the era of the portugues/british.
