The Independent National Electoral
Commission, INEC has suspended the re-
run legislative elections in two more local
government areas – Etche and Asari-Toru.
INEC had suspended election in six local
government areas including; Andoni,
Gokana, Khana, Eleme, Tai and Bonny.
The latest suspension is contained in a
statement signed by the Resident
Electoral Commissioner in the state,
Aniedi Ikoiwak.
Ikowak revealed that the elections were
suspended in the eight Local government
areas because of wide spread violence
and other disturbances that stopped
election from holding.
He said the suspended elections were
necessitated by the need to forestall
breakdown of law and order in the event
of further aggravation of crisis.
INEC however said it needed to put all
stakeholders on notice that the
commission is still studying the situation
in the remaining fifteen local government.

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, has declared Hon Matthew Nenubari Dike of the APC as winner of TAI constituency seat of Rivers State House of Assembly. HON Dike scored 32,020 votes to defeat his closest rival Hon. Silver Ngbar of PDP who scored 2964. The result was declared by the returning officer Dr. Joseph Omoro of the Federal University, Otueke at the INEC office Saakpenwa at about 5.30 am.
