is there any hujah for standing position of couples when praying at home? somebody once said the couple stand closely beside each other with little space.

nawaful is not obligatory but contribution or voluntary. If you are conducting it like a jamaah, the most important thing is that the wife is not ahead of you because of the injuction of its impermissibility. So if you are a couple, a good enough space as much as it is necessary depending on the size of your prayer space is necessary. As long as she is not so far back that you do have to shout quite loudly for her to hear you and she cant be so close that when you ruku all you can see is her and her charms that so much may attract you that will make your mind go to her!

Infact, if I were to be in that condition, I will have her leave at least a span of space that is nothing short of her stretched arm between us. That way I will not see her at all, when I make my ruku. And she will not have to be close to me that she wil touch my body as she ruku or sajdah. the most important thing is that the mind is focused to Allah in Salah, as much as possible without husband and wife distracting each other taking away from the concentration, instead of being supporter now as a fitna for each other!

my reference is simply the injuction of when women are not permitted to pray in front whereby a man can see her in the front! further, I used the ramadan condition of young couples still seeing each other as sexual entities for the most part for the far distance that I propose, and for the as long as neither is a distraction from full contraction, if the relationship has settled down to not seeing each other as mainly sexual fill, as the newly married often do!


You will agree that a couple who have been married for 30 years will have a sexual restraint  towards each other than the newly wed young people, in their 20s, and still in honeymoon mode! Google ahadith about women not praying in the front of a man and man praying behind a woman.

why is sex so much of a problem in islam? Is it not possible for a man and woman to pray for 30 mins together without feeling a need to hump each other?

Sex is generally everyone's problem. Islam encourages educating people on sex. Also, urges us to control and regulate our desires, so that we remain dignified and do not behave like animals.

Secondly, it is possible for the couple to pray together as long as possible as long as the rule of fiqh is follows. The two can't hold eachother while praying, no touching and the likes. The arrangement is that they should be on different row or little space beside(on the right side)if there is only a row available. The rules follows from jama'at prayer while there is different between Imam and the followers not by relation but by arrangement. Allah Aalam.

Additionally, it is also good the whole family including children pray together, especially where the mosque are few and distant and no regular jama'a.
