Presidential sources have explained the reasons why President Muhammadu Buhari is yet to sign the N6.06 trillion 2016 Appropriation Bill, passed by the National Assembly last Wednesday.
Although, the leadership of the National Assembly handed over the Bill to the Presidency for assent before the Easter holidays, The Nation Newspaper has confirmed that Buhari is yet to sign the Budget.
It was learnt that the Bill did not contain details and sectorial breakdown, hence the delay for the president to append his signature.

Recall, that the eventual passage of the 2016 budget by the joint House of the National Assembly after much delay lightened the hopes of Nigerians who have been passing through severe suffering as a result of economic hardship.
A Presidency source who confirmed the receipt of the Bill from the lawmakers explained that though the President is anxious to sign the Bill, he would only do so after the National Assembly avails him of the details which were not contained in what was handed over.
Asked if that could be done within the period that the National Assembly would be on recess, the source said it was a possibility as the relevant officers in the National Assembly may be directed to send the details to the President.
Nigerians are anxiously waiting for the full implementation of the 2016 budget as a means of alleviating their present sufferings.

Please, before you begin your ranting and insult, would you sign a document as the budget without the detail description. I wouldn't sign, not after what has transpired about budget padding.

I appreciate your fear? But have you ask yourself this questions
1. Was that the first time Nigeria budget is been padded?

2. Was the budget not a proposal;

3. Does the NASS have right to review and expunge what is not in line with reality;

4. If Mr president has agree to play ball would they have cried out?

5. The ball stop at Mr President table. So if anything is not right to call the attention of NASS to it and it will be resolved. That is accountability and transpiracy.

I personally think that the budget as presented to the senate is humongous and unimplementable without serious moderation. Perhaps since the Oga at the top did not want to spend a few more months to get it in proper shape (in the light of obvious and understandable political pressures), and the senate having no desire to take the blame for further delay "stamped" it will minimal moderation, and sent back to Aso rock.
The Oga at the top "seeing as the thing come be" is now reported to not be in a hurry to assent.

Before now the spin appeared to be that things will quickly begin to happen once legislative approval is obtained for the budget (aka spending).

You are right my brother. Most of us do not appreciate the rot in the system. Mr president may be slow, but he known some people would do not want him to succeed. Even within his party. Secondly, budget review process is where they make money, but this time around no money and they wouldn't be happy.

I am impress someone is reading between the lines. The change Nigeria wanted was hijacked the day Saraki emerged as Senate President. Having through the basing Mr President went through, I will not rush to sigb this Budget. That is my opinion.
