You are quick to drown Amunike whenever his name comes up. Let Finidi also handle the age grade sides and coach them to a world title. You think that is easier? Finidi wobbled and fumbled on the Enyimba job until providence of the abridged league smiled on him.

humility33:

He'll fumble

He fumbled with Zonaco in Zambia and in Egypt too.

He can't achieve much success with Enyimba

Left to me I will prefer Egbo gets the job and to be assisted by Nssein the US under 20 coach and Finidi while Nssein also serve as nigeria under 20 coach to be assisted by Remo stars and Enugu rangers coach.

The NFF is just messed up

Pls what is Amuneke doing presently. It’s simple Finidi assisted Peseiro and NFF needed to look inward for local coach and fortunately for Finidi he has been managing Enyimba and also eagles assistant,so what do you expect.

Amuneke should find a club than lurking around for eagles job

Don't mind him.

I think it is pride

While Finidi choose to pick a club in the NPFL to coach and also serve as assistant coach in the super eagles

Amunike felt he was too big for such roles

He should humble himself, maybe when Nigeria employ a foreign coach after Finidi reign he can come in as assistant.

The problem might be loyalty, over too ambitious him and the chief coach may not work well together like sabotage

To be honest, don't expect anyone here to believe the bolded except me or a few others. Ofcos Amunike isn't aware and won't resort to such tactics but nope... some no go gree.

Truth is I know there are people who for once felt it was time a suitable local hand came in that truly suited the team and should be given free hand with the team and that guy was Amunike. But what I didn't expect is how badly they wanted this for Amunike. I am even shocked at the number of so called powerful individuals who tried hard to influence the NFF to name Amunike. Omo, e get people wey like that man ooo.

Amunike na AJ man and he has people doing things for him underground, most social media platforms were rooting for him. I asked a friend are we into politics or what?cuz some even went as far protesting.

NFF will not be comfortable hiring Emma

Finidi was literally on the verge of being sacked by same Enyimba at one point. He won the league last season thanks to the abridged version and the help of Ukaegbu and others who prepped the team even when Finidi was away on NT duty.

Enyimba finished 3rd in Group A of the regular season behind Remo Stars and bendel insurance who were much better in the league compared to Enyimba.
The abridged version just played out in Enyimba's favour.
Infact, had Akwa Utd (tied with Finidi's Enyimba on 32 pts) had a better Goals difference, it would have been something different.

Truth is we are giving all the credits to Finidi to boost him up but the main minds behind Enyimba's plays and training are Emeka Okwandu, Ifeanyi Harcourt and Lawrence Ukaegbu.

Finidi is coaching the most prestigious and richest club in Nigeria with several of the best players in the league while being away on NT duty when it calls. It's a piece of cake. A better coach will be topping the league with Enyimba and wrapping up the league. Not playing second fiddle to Fidelis Illechukwu (a guy I consider a better tactician than Finidi anyway).

He gave the reason why he couldn't do well in his first season. He wanted to play free flow, attacking football but this is not Spain. He tried it, forced it but didn’t work out for him hence had to twerk it.

Did he win the League last season?! Yes. Is he consistent and may possibly win this season?! Yes. Enyimba last won the league in 2019, thus let's give Finidi his flowers. Rivers United were well funded and Gov. Wike motivated them with every resource available to win the league in 2023.

Amunike need to pick up a job and excel at it that will accentuate his quest to coach the super eagles

Relying on the under 17 success years ago as leapfrog to coach the super eagles won't work

Finidi gets this job because of the critical times, the NFF needed someone already used to this players considering just few days to south Africa match. He has been the assistant, that's because he humbled himself to learn and serve.

Is Finidi not also relying on a fluke NPFL win orchestrated more by those 3 men I listed in the Enyimba coaching staff? So why won't Amunike's WC triumph be brought in as well?

Have Finidi also qualified any nation to a major tournament? (To be fair, we will answer this by the end of the WCQs, won't we?)

Amunike has been busy with Zanaco recently before he left and also was part of various technical study groups to recent tournaments like the WC in 2018 and Afcon 2021.

This guy even had coached in the NPFL before but you didn't know until I brought it to light so how the hell would you know what else he is up to currently??

Hmm what more can be said

Without sentiment Amunike is the most qualified

In terms of
Experience he has grown from the ranks.. coached in and out of Nigeria

As per certification he has all the papers. We even learnt Finidi George does have some of the papers CAF standard expect

Amunike has the toughness to inforce discipline after all he has played the game lake Finidi George and even this boys who he can take them... Apart from Osimhen who among the current players can boast of African footballer of the year award

Anyway NFF wants somebody that can do their bedding without saying no to some underhand practice we all know

They say Finidi George won NPFL
I just laughed, if not for the super 8 when all the teams were tired expetially Rivers United on the continent and Bendel insurance

Amunike is part of the problem, he lived it and became it he is CORRUPT and there must be for a new Nigeria zero tolerance of corruption.

He grew up with corruption and all the unethical practices, godfatherism, favouritism, personal interest over national interest.

Finidi is not hungry for 🤑🤑🤑but hungry to make a name for excellence.

Rivers Utd were well funded but were never at any point gonna be bigger than Enyimba. Enyimba is clearly Nigeria's biggest clubside. They are the Man City/Man Utd of Nigeria.

Enyimba were barely third in the regular season (escaped over Akwa Utd) and were favored in the abridged league barely escaping with the title due to Goals difference over Remo Stars. Like Robosky02 said, the fatigue/burn out from continental assignments of Rivers and Bendel affected how that abridged league turned out.

How did Finidi's Enyimba fare on the continent? How did they fare in the AFL? Don't act like we don't have new champions in the NPFL season after season. Even Ocean Boys' Maurice Cooreman once won the NPFL yet never came close to the Super Eagles job.

I don talk am before and will still say it

Amuneke should wait until the next election season to buy a house of rep or assemble ticket to represent his pple in the federal/state house

If he can gather a lot of big heads in the country politics wise to lobby for him just to get super eagles coaching job that implies if he ventures fully into politics he may turn out to be the next “Jagaban” from the east 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Amunike coached both Julius Berger and Ocean Boys, today both clubs are dead.

Tanzania's Qualification to AFCON under Amunike is a fluke. Also it wasn't their first ever time cos they played AFCON in 1980.

Can someone point to a National Men Football Team or Club that Amunike had successfully coached?!

At the height of the search for a new coach for the Super Eagles, the Sports Minister warned top NFF officials: “Abuja will burn if Amuneke is not the new Super Eagles coach.”

Such were the high stakes riding on the decision of who will be the new man to lead the Super Eagles.

It was like an absorbing soap opera, filled with intrigues, suspense, blackmail, rumours and barefaced lies.

Apparently, Amuneke had been promised the job by many highly-placed persons.

He was so confident that finally his turn had come, so much so that those close to him were only talking about if Finidi would be ready to work as his assistant.

SCORENigeria gathered that a point Amuneke was to be the one to be named as the coach of the national team.

Former NFF president Amaju Pinnick got the ball rolling when he went on national television to endorse Finidi George as the best man for the job.

However, social media was also abuzz with a clarion call for Amuneke to get his chance to lead the Super Eagles after serving as the No 2 man in two different spells.

The social media will even go on to announce his appointment, probably a tactic to arm twist the NFF.

But in the real world, the NFF technical committee which had insisted in the first place that Finidi take charge of the Super Eagles in an interim capacity for the friendlies against Ghana and Mali last month, had set its sights on a foreign coach to carry on from where Jose Peseiro left in February.

Officials later admitted that this proposal was later jettisoned because the NFF could not afford to pay the salary of a foreign coach.

The turning point of this search was Thursday morning, when the Sports Minister met with the NFF delegation led by Ibrahim Gusau in Abuja.

John Enoh demanded a role for Amuneke in the new dispensation, while going as far as accusing the NFF technical committee of being bias towards the former FC Barcelona winger.

He then dropped the bombshell – “Abuja will burn” should Amuneke not be the man.

He made it very clear to the NFF bosses that the Federal Government will not pay for a foreign coach and instead they should look inwards.

Sports Minister John Enoh
Gusau and his kitchen cabinet were jolted.

“They were battered men,” a source informed SCORENigeria

“They didn’t like the position of the Minister particulary as it concerned Amuneke, but they were also afraid not to rock the cordial working relationship they have enjoyed with the minister since he assumed office.”

The technical committee subsequently met virtually to rework their recommendations.

Now Finidi was the preferred choice with Amuneke and Daniel Amokachi the other options.

Enter Pinnick, Bukola Olapade, Kunle Soname, who reached out to various power blocs to caution the Minister he should let the NFF make the final call on the new coach.

On Monday afternoon, Gusau appeared before the House Committee on Sports headed by Ekene Adams and he told them they have finally settled for Finidi.

An official press statement then sealed the deal.

The battle ground has now shifted to who will assist Finidi.

Like wetin. They said Finidi doesn't get UEFA Pro, we dropped Link, they said na Lie. Where is the Link that proved Amuneke gets Pro and Masters?!

They said Amuneke is drenched in the pool of tiki-taka, same as Finidi cos he was made in Ajax. As a player, Finidi is far more successful than Amuneke. He is a UCL Winner and also won other Trophies that Amuneke didn't even smell as a Player.

As a youth Coach, he managed a spanish U19 Club [not even U17] for 5 years. Guess what?! Spain is home of tiki-taka. As a Men Coach he has won a League, as in a League for God's sake!

He is technically a foreigner too, coz he is also a spanish. LOL!

Story. Amunike has higher that UEFA A certificate. They should stop this PR to force Finidi down our throats. Finidi is loved and has a brilliant footballing history. They should stop trying to paint someone black and back with lies.

UEFA Pro license is different from UEFA A license. Finidi has UEFA A license and it is not the same thing. By the way, Amunike has even the UEFA Masters Coaching certification that is bigger than these.

They should stop these blackmail and get to business.
