In a move reminiscent of Twitter planning to expand its character count, Instagram has announced that they are rolling out full minute video support on their popular social media app. While video capture is nothing new for the food-and-yoga-stuffed social network, users were previously limited to 15 seconds of video per… gram. iPhone users will also get an extra perk in this update, as users will be able to take multiple files from their gallery and stitch them together in a rudimentary video editing subfunction.

The reason for this alteration? Instagram says that video engagement has been up 40 percent in the last six months, and that people are craving more and longer videos. The timeline for this rollout is “soon” and it’s part of a year-long revamp of the app. We’re not quite sure what’s in store for this app in 2016, but we’re looking forward to seeing what Facebook (who owns the platform) has up its sleeve.
