Betty Iloba family and her three children Toby, Saskia and Kevin-Emmanuel, Nationals of Nigeria and residents of  Rochdale and have been refused asylum. They are currently detained in Yarl's Wood IRC and have survived one removal attempt already.

Betty's husband was trying to arrange for the family to legally move to UK due to the threats he received because of his job as a senior police officer in Nigeria who had worked as a "Divisional Crime Officer" and a "Divisional Police Officer.

Unfortunately he was killed before they could come to the UK. After his death, Betty wanted his death to be investigated and because she was facing threats from her husband's killers. To avoid these threats, she stopped the investigation into his death and decided to come to the UK.  At the moment, the Home Office have told her and her family to leave the country but realistically, there is no place to go if they go home. They believe there is a high chance of her husband's killers coming to threaten the family again and to kill Betty but the Home Office thinks there is not enough evidence to prove this threat is real. Betty is afraid that she will be recognised due to the nature of her business and she is well known as she was a member of the Police Officers Wives Association and was the Welfare Officer of IMO State Chapter.

The children have been in the UK for almost five years and there has been a constant battle to keep the family in the UK, including sending  support letters from the children's schools to the home Office but there has been no positive outcome. Betty has struggled and overcome  many obstacles and her children have all excelled in their schools ( her daughter was made Head Girl at North Manchester High School in 2008). Betty has managed so far, to give her children a safe, happy life with the help of their school and church communities. Please sign this petition to call on the Immigration Minister to grant Betty and her children the right to remain in the UK on compassionate grounds.

There has been so many stories like these from Nigerians seeking asylum both in the UK and Ireland. However, the fact is Nigeria is not safe for anyone! if you are not killed by armed robbers you may be killed by policemen or even OPC, MEND, Bakassi boys, etc. Nigeria has been exhibiting all symptoms of a failed state in this regard all Nigerians are in one danger or the other.

No matter how true the story of this woman might be it will be difficult to prove, Have your heard of Pamela Izevbekhai and her cock and bull story? pathological liars like her will never make western countries take Nigerians serious.
To be honest with you it is very difficult to believe that this woman is not just an economic migrant, however what never cease to amaze me is the fact that I have seen several other Nigerians being granted asylum for reasons which to me does not have any merit. If these set of people are been granted i don't think the Home Office has a fair and robust system of asylum system.

Goodluck to her
