The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the by- election held at Ife Central State Constituency in Osun State inconclusive.
The Returning Officer, Dr Francis Oladimeji, who made
the announcement after the collation of results from the
11 wards in the state constituency, said the result could not be declared because of the violence which led to the disruption of collation at two polling units.
According to him, fresh election would be held on Sunday in the two affected polling units, Agbedegbede and Moore Ojaja, both in Ward Three in Ife Central State Constituency.
He explained that the report of violence recorded at the two
polling units led to the cancellation of 872 votes, saying the
margin between the two leading candidates was 710, making it imperative to conduct a fresh election, as stipulated in the Electoral Act.
Dr Oladimeji further explained that the number of cancelled
votes exceeded the difference between the two leading
candidates.
There were reports that suspected political thugs had earlier
disrupted voting process at the two polling units, with
attempts to snatch ballot boxes from INEC ad-hoc staff.

All the elections in Nigeria since Buhari became president has been inconclusive. Ordinary state house of assembly of one ward is inconclusive.

I wonder why people still have hope on this man and his Party. I have not seen one thing this government started and concluded.

If he can not conduct ward elections, I wonder where our hope will come from.

INEC staff are career Public Servants, they are not appointed, only the chairman & the 12 commissioners (2 from each region) are appointed & screened by the senate...

It's not about Buhari or INEC but about we Nigerians. Some of us are being used by politicians for their selfish aim. The funniest thing is that their children wouldn't come out to act as tout instead they use us and once they get into power, they forget us. If at all they remember us, it's to share bag of rice, cash and groundnut oil during festive season. Until we say we all agree that no amount of bribe would make us become tout, we will continue to experience this mess. Even if Jesus is the INEC chairman, there will still be rigging, violence since it's our nature.
