Howard County is a county located in the central part of the U.S. state of Maryland. As of the 2010 census, the population was 287,085.[1] Its county seat is Ellicott City.[2]

Howard County is included in the Baltimore-Columbia-Towson, MD Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Washington-Baltimore-Arlington, DC-MD-VA-WV-PA Combined Statistical Area. However, recent development in the south of the county has led to some realignment towards the Washington, D.C. media and employment markets. The county is home to Columbia, a major planned community of approximately 100,000 founded by developer James Rouse in 1967.

Howard County is frequently cited for its affluence, quality of life, and excellent schools. With an estimated median household income of $108,844 in 2012, Howard County had the third-highest median household income of any U.S. county in 2013.[3] Many of the most affluent communities in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area, such as Clarksville, Dayton, Glenelg, Glenwood, and West Friendship, are located along the Route 32 corridor in Howard County. The main population center of Columbia/Ellicott City was named second among Money magazine's 2010 survey of "America's Best Places to Live."[4] Howard County's schools frequently rank first in Maryland as measured by standardized test scores and graduation rates

So Howard County, Maryland is the second richest county in the United States
Its capital is Ellicot City and its largest city is Columbia
Next to Columbia is a small town called West Friendship where only 3.5 % of the population is black
Of this 3.5 %, 23 % have Nigerian origin.

Given the high cost of living in Howard County, this makes its cities and towns such as West Friendship among the US communities with the highest concentration (per percentage of the population) of rich Nigerians.

To own a good house in Columbia and surrounding towns such as West Friendship. you would be coughing out nearly a million USD.

So is Howard County where Nigerian polithiecians go to buy houses in America using their American based relatives and proxies?

In 2009, the estimated population of West Friendship (zip code 21794) was 2,777 persons with 1,763 households. The median age is 36.5 years. The racial make-up of West Friendship was 87.1% White, 3.5% African American, 9.1% Asian, and 0.3% Hispanic. 90.6% of the population speak English at home. Foreign-born residents compose of 7.9% of the community. The most common countries of origin were Nigeria (23%), United Kingdom (22%), Taiwan (14%) and Canada (10%).[7]

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median family income was $178,977 in 2013, one of the highest in Maryland. More than 40% of families earned more than $200,000 per year.[8] The average family net worth in 2013 was $1.81 million.[9] An estimated 0.9% of families have an income below the poverty level.[8]

Most West Friendship residents commute to work in the Baltimore-Washington corridor. More than half (54%) of families have 3 or more cars.[8] The mean commute is 30–34 minutes. 88% of residents drive a car to work, and 34.7% of residents work within Howard County, Maryland.

Op, your analysis about Howard County is true except that not all of the Nigerians there are "polithiefcians:. American Nigerians including those who made their names in America, without any financial connection to Nigeria, live there. I know one Igbo man who is a senior university prof in one of the Maryland unis. He bought a house there which he would probably pay for for the rest of his life. Lol. He and his nurse wife earn about 180K basic per annum combined.

If you say the itis the second richest county in the US and good houses cost almost a million.

2 years ago when Naira was 150:1 can this rich county compare to those Abuja or Lekki house prices for a good house.

You pay cash for house in Abuja , and these people finance for 30 years so a family of Nigerians working 3 jobs between them can struggle to live in that area. You know how we like to show our people we don make it.

On a million dollar house the most you will pay per month is $8560 per month if between husband and wife they make $13,000 a month they will manage to pay mortgage drink plenty oatmeal since its cheaper than garri and good for high blood pressure. Now compare that to Abuja, Lekki cost remember school is free for all kids till university it is part of your mortgage payment
